Cleared a poor GR 115 with about 4 minutes to spare. Zero density maps. One conduit.
Does the exact same damage as IB minus the Fury starvation (by 30% IAS) and no stacks required. I never stop WW because of a lack of Fury. I have 59% CDR and I was always well share of WotB. I’m confident that I change out CDR% for 10% damage. This would make my damage output greater than.
I don’t think so, man. You’re only getting about 4.6% extra damage out of that Nutcracker with your setup. Just a straight-up switch to IB without changing anything else should add about 9.6% damage.
It’s not that far off, and if you like using it, cool. But better than IB? No way.
D3 planner is pretty unreliable. Personally, I rarely use it.
Regarding “stacks”… seriously? Using WW you get 5 IB stacks in about 2 seconds, and they’re pretty much never going to fall off.
I just calculated out the damage taking into account the varying weapon damage, CHD, bonuses from Weapon Master, Elemental from Doombringer, +30% from IB, etc.
Not just that, but IB also gives you extra armor, which is nice.
Like I said, it’s a fine setup, and if you like it, that’s cool. And roughly 10% less damage is not so much that it’s going to put a crimp in your style. But it’s not better than IB.
And not only all this stuff, but if you just carried Ambo’s and cubed Furnace, you’d have more fury generation (from WM), way better healing (trading Wind Shear for Blood Funnel), considerably more damage (trading StP for ItF), and a ton of elite damage (from Furnace).
You might be the first to argue this, that I can recall.
2 seconds is a long time vs 100% uptime.
I’m sorry Rage, but I think you’re over analyzing for the sake of winning an argument (and I don’t mean that you’re being ill-hearted). Everything you mentioned above is sheet damage Element%, 35% CHD, 5% CHC, it doesn’t alternate from MH to OH.
The armor is of no use when you drop your stacks. And when it is up, it’s negligible when compared to BoM, WW DR, Mortick’s GS… ect
I still don’t see where your getting that NC/DB is doing 10% less damage. On the contrary, the number I’ve shown has NC/DB doing 5% more damage than IB.
“Apple to Oranges”
I thought IB’s were top dogs for pushing?
You’re lose a damage passive.
Possibly, but picking up 5% CHC w/ WM/Mace combo is a consistent increase of sustain and damage. Windshear is more more than enough for NC/DB.
I think you’re inflating the use of the Furnace. It’s good, but you only really put it to use vs RG. No one goes “Toe to Toe” with Elites. You drag Elites to density, so damage that’s versatile would serve best imo in order to proc Bloodbath. Either way, Furnace is a moot point.
That… doesn’t make any sense. By the time you’ve actually reached any enemies in a rift, using IB, you’re going to have full stacks, and they are unlikely to drop for the rest of the rift.
I’m going to go ahead and say the same thing to you!
What? I think you’re misreading me, though I’m not exactly sure how.
That armor gives you about 14-17% additional mitigation, which is about 6 GRs worth.
For the rest, I can probably lay out the numbers for you tomorrow… or, maybe I’ll just leave you to it. As I’ve said, it sure doesn’t bother me what gear you use. Let me know how far you get, I’ll be interested to hear.
He isn’t. D3 Planner is unreliable, and there have been quite a few instances in the past where, when it has failed to update to the newest patch, it was completely wrong. Its simulations and calculations take a lot of factors into account, but there are certain nuances which aren’t going to show up on paper.
D3 Planner is a great tool for thinking out loud, so to speak, about where items go or what stats might look like, but it’s definitely not the final word when it comes to determining build eligibility.
Not necessarily. This has been covered in great detail in the Zodiac Rend thread, so you can check there. We don’t know the best combo yet. It’s going to be between the IB set and equipping Ambo’s + Doombringer with Furnace in the Cube. Refer to the guide for more info and a comparison.
Anyway, Rage is right in the points he’s making. There’s no real reason to bother with Nutcracker, because it doesn’t really contribute to the build in a way you can’t replicate better with another weapon setup. If you’re just running with whatever to try out new, interesting combos, don’t worry about any of it – go nuts and have fun. Rend is now strong enough that some very weird weapon combos can carry you 10 GRs past your previous best.
But if you’re looking to optimize the Zodiac Rend build, well, you’ll want to follow the guide.
Would you rather have a 100% uptime or a 2 second delay (though I think it’s actually more). And you run dry on Fury vs certain RG.
Haha, sometimes you’re ambiguous by with intent or I’m giving too much credit.
I find that hard to believe, but I won’t argue it.[quote=“Free-1746, post:8, topic:9289”]

I hear ya. I want to address the Fury deprivation that IB struggles with in certain situations.
But in hind sight, that does seem like a great combination.
It doesn’t struggle with Fury. The only time there’s a problem with Fury is when you begin the rift without Stomp on the bar, which is the same issue you’ll have with Nutcracker.
There’s no Fury issue to solve, and there’s no quantifiable down-time on IB stacks during the rift. You’re inflating what is, at most, a minor annoyance with using the IB set into a gargantuan problem that doesn’t really exist.
Try it for yourself. Use the IB set and run with Windshear.
Oh I see, I suppose I read a number of posts where players were saying that they burning through Fury with IB. In any case, thank you clearing that up. You guys are awesome and when I say, “You guys”, I mean you too Rage.
D3 planner is not wrong, weapon master + nutcracker adds a lot of damage to rend (because of how the rend damage takes in consideration CHC and CHD), the thing is to get these numbers you have to equip weapon master, this passive adds some damage for the nutcracker setup, but it’s totally useless in the IB setup, because it’s 8% dibs… if you compare the IB setup with the right passive (berserker rage instead of weapons master) IB setup deals more damage and it’s tankier.
Just so you know, I always endeavor to be as clear as I can, and to give an honest assessment of what I’m looking at. It is certainly true that at times, I could be clearer!-- but this is just from an inability to always express myself as well as I’d like. If something I say confuses you, just let me know and I’ll try to clarify. I’m also just another human being, and I’ve been known to be wrong about stuff…
Agree. I really like that the man seems to have fun playing the game. It’s sad when people lose that.
Thanks for being so candid and we’re all in the same boat.
Thx, I greatly appreciate your words.
As for 2H, it’s a no go. DW can nearly match the damage of 2H and it has more affixes. It’d be nice if 2H had the damage to compensate but it doesn’t. I was testing a nearly Primal Heart Slaughter, but it doesn’t have enough AS to work well with Zodiac, maintain sufficient sustain, and the list goes on.
