Anyone else running into this bug? It’s my sixth character im leveling a (monk). Like always I’m farming (Nephalem rifts) on (Torment 6) From level 1 to 10, I was gaining little to no experience. Reaching level 11 I was not earning any experience at all, no matter what I did or killed.
Level 11?
That is very odd. The starter version of the game limits you to level 13 and the Skeleton King.
There are no mechanisms in the full game to stop you from leveling. The mobs all level with you so you can’t end up more powerful than them such that you can’t get XP.
Under your current account on the America’s region you have a level 70 and a level 5. No level 11s.
Even if you are talking about a dif Region, the license should let you play past starter restrictions.
Here’s OP’s America profile:
and he has a lvl 70 hero.
Don’t see a monk.
I am wondering if he has a second Bnet account under a new email that is a starter. That caps out at level 13.
It can happen if game has low level. It seems like lvl 1 in your case.
No, it’s that the game was snapshotted. Whoever opens the game, that’s the level it snapshots at. If a LV 12 character is the team lead, the game snapshots at that level. If someone did it at LV 1 or did it solo, then any monsters in zones that have been visited (even if just teleported to) will be snapshotted at the player’s current level at the time of entering the zone.
Moving to a new act should force monsters to level up, as well as nephalem rifts, which use the player’s current level as the mLV determination. However, given the prevailing tactic is to do low level (≤LV 12) runs, you wouldn’t want to get past LV 11 or 12 anyway, so in this case, if the player is hunting for ethereals, they just hit a sweet spot and should roll with it until they wipe every zone clear.
It was me who had a similar situation. I wanted the new WD at level 31. At 27, I took off the Cain and Born set and took out the Gem of Easy with my gun because I was afraid that I would skip the 31st level and I had literally nothing to experience until the very end of the map. Literally 0. Everything was back to normal as I entered the next map on the same rift.
I had this happen playing solo a few days ago.
I made a new character to level to 6. But, I forgot to turn the torment down, so when I went to the first area, the first group I killed launched me to 11.
Frustrated, I killed the rest of the pack, but strangely there was no XP from the rest of the pack. To make sure, I killed a bunch more in the area and still no XP. I had to leave the game and return in order to start getting XP again. I assumed it was just a client-server hiccup.
Of all the new characters I’ve ever made to solo power level, it has only happened that one time.
From a little experimentation I did awhile back.
One misconception people have is that enemies level scale to you. This is only partly true. When you tag an enemy in a sub-zone (that is, damage them), every enemy in that sub-zone instantly is set to your level.
So, you enter a rift at Level 1, kill an enemy, and get shot up to Level 11. But the rest of the enemies in the sub-zone will remain at Level 1. Because you’re 10 levels different, you will no longer gain XP via killing enemies, rather, you’ll only gain XP via massacre bonuses*. Unfortunately, you cannot gain massacre bonuses in rifts.
Now, what I mean about sub-zones is that every zone itself is comprised of minizones. So, you kill an enemy on part of the map. If you happen to run further into the map, you’ll notice that some of the enemies remain at Level 1, while other enemies will now be Level 11.
Entering a new sub-zone (i.e. a new floor on the rift) will fix the situation of not gaining any more XP.
- (For some reason, massacre bonuses are unaffected, and thus a great way to get early levels while leveling at the beginning of the season, as T6(1) massacre bonuses gives significantly more experience than if you ran T2(10) while leveling at Level 10).
In my case, this was in the Festering Woods. But yeah, maybe because I shot up to 11 but didn’t move very far from the TP waypoint, the nearby monsters didn’t have a chance to scale up to me. Maybe if I had run around the zone a little bit more, they would have.
Had a similar thing today.
Not sure whether it was at lvl 11, but it was somewhere around that.
In a T6 (my character level) game to get it to lvl 16 (for the ethereals farming).
It simply halted gaining xp. My friend kept killing things and yes I was in a location where I should have received that xp.
After killing a bunch of things, xp started to increase again.
Before halting, xp gain seemed much, much less than it should have been. I leveled multiple characters to lvl16 before this one. At lvl16, I exited.
After this, I leveled a crusader to lvl16 without problems.
This was on EU server.
(Once I got the ethereals, I deleted the character).
