Any guesses as to how Diablo 4 will have a nonlinear story? Could it be something like collecting artefacts or building a team (Mass Effect 2 comes to memory) which has no particular order? This is something I am a little worried about…the main quest should be interesting and engaging enough not like Skyrim where you don’t really care about it and just pick up interesting content on the sides.
Any thoughts or theories on what the nonlinear story will be about?
No idea, but we can look back on what it would be like;
Act 1 in D2, really the main thing in the story is to defeat Andariel.
Quests like Den of Evil, Sisters’ Burial Grounds, The Forgotten Tower and Tools of Trade are secondary, in Diablo 4 you are supposed to be able to do them in the order you want.
The mission to rescue Deckard Cain (The Search for Cain) would be in the middle, Cain is an important character and you need him to guide you, he also tells you what Andariel’s weakness is.
I suppose that while they shape the world and populate it with NPCs, they will give us missions to solve their problems, then things will get complicated, start small and grow.
