No Windowed+Maximized Mode?

Is there seriously no way to make the game fill the entire desktop area except the taskbar?

I mean, WoW has been able to do this for years, but Diablo 3 can’t?

If I set Diablo3 to Windowed… the bottom of the screen gets pushed off-screen and there seems to be no way to resize the window and the Maximize button is greyed out and won’t let me click it.

I can fiddle with Windowed (Fullscreen) and Windowed Mode until it eventually gives me exactly what I want, but the first time I get to a loading screen, it changes to fill the entire screen, which I don’t want.

This is frustrating, I really wish more game developers would take into consideration that sometimes people need to see their taskbars while gaming, and would like a friendly way to do that. The fact I can get the game to do it temporarily means it is possible but for some weird reason, not enabled anywhere that I can find.

EDIT: I could use something like Borderless Window App, but… I’m afraid that since that seems to use API hooks, and the fact you are forced to connect to Battle.net, I don’t want to get banned for “cheating” (even though I’m not actually cheating).

That’s all I need. Heat of battle and click the start button. I typically run mine in Windowed Fullscreen. Mostly because it removes the micro-stutter.

But its so easy to simply hit the windows key on your keyboard and Bam! Instant task bar appears. Its like magic!

You could always get a second monitor. It’s quite useful.

I agree, it’s been a problem since day one and Blizzard doesnt care. I could put in on full screen, but then I cant minimize it when I need to. Like you, I have to fudge around with the window to make it fit the screen and show the taskbar as well.

The problem with this is I need to SEE the taskbar because of alerts from other programs (some of which do not have sound cues, or I might not hear the sound cues because of all the noise in the game).

Also,

@timberwolf: My desk doesn’t really have the room for a 2nd monitor. I have an art tablet on it, but I don’t want to be messing around moving stuff every time I wanna play Diablo3 just because they couldn’t be asked to allow us to do something that programs have been doing ever since Windows95 days.
