Five days now, zero echo key drops. Thousands of legendaries, no keys.
Short answer: the RNG hates you.
I’m sure Meteorblade will post the long answer shortly.
Petrified Screams have 5% drop rate from Greater Rift Guardians, which means 95% failure and very specific to farming Greater Rifts. You are simply telling us that you have landed 95% rate for a long streak, which isn’t unexpected or uncommon. Why, yes, randomization must have hate you.
Along that five days you could have played high pushes only that takes you 10 minutes or longer which is not entirely efficient to speak of. You supposed to farm low tier Greater rifts at a 3-5 minute mark per run, if you want to farm Petrified Screams. We may never know until you spare details.
I think you mean “…until they share the details.”
They are already “sparing” the details.
And we still won’t know, as people this upset by their perceived bad luck are almost guaranteed to (knowingly or not) exaggerate the numbers to make the seem more unlucky.
At issue isn’t I have never earned them: at issue is doing the same thing I’ve done since the season began yet no scream drops. Running 90’s and 100’s in two minutes. Pretty sure some will still do the “git gud” reply since they have nothing useful or constructive to say. And, by the way, there are others reporting the same: seems the altar requirement for a 125 whisper might be related to the lack of drops.
Seasons like this one skew the perception of lack of drops because the power creep lets you get paragon with relatively poor gear at the start of the season. And with the altar giving you permanent XP pools, that further ups the XP ante.
They’ll come. I’ve had 15 and just passed 1200 paragon. I see you’re only 850-odd. Just have to keep spamming those 90+ greater rifts. Remember XP isn’t linear so there’s a whole lotta extra farming I’ve done in that 350 paragon.
Edit: I see on another post you say you’ve had dozens. Next season tuck a couple away. Lesson learnt?
Edit: Nvm, I had misread/misunderstood something.
Zurtle means that rather than using all the Petrified screams to upgrade your gear, you have to put some aside (2 exactly, one which will be used as is and the other for a Whisper of Atonement lvl125), to not be stuck about the Altar at some point if you ever have no luck and you cannot loot any.
Oh, then I had misunderstood. Thought the other person meant “dropped in previous seasons but not this season so far”, not at beginning of this season and now a dry spell. Thanks.
Edit: Okay, OP said 5 days.
As an update, another key finally dropped; been counting runs … leveled two gems 0 to 80 and two gems from 70 to 100 (usually 4 points at a time). Collected two Primal drops, too. So about a seven day dry spell.
Oddly - it mysteriously showed up in my bags and I didn’t pick it up (I was watching all of the items dropped very closely).
Impossible. You just didn’t notice picking it up before identifying all the loot.
End of discussion I think.
“Magic” is beautiful
Yes! And I usually err on the side of caution and keep more than a couple in case I have a PEBKAC moment and don’t make it to EN126+ on my first attempt.
This season, I didn’t use any for augmenting until after I’d consumed one for the altar. That and I wanted to save my augments for my necro, TuberculoSis, rather than my monk, ArthurMorgan.
(three points for guessing my toon naming theme for this season.)
It’s rare to find (many) good ancients roll that early anyway. Don’t waste your first screams (and gems!!) on pieces you’re going to replace anyway.
Sacrifice one for the altar, use one augment for the journey, the rest to gear with at least somewhat decent rolls.
Kind of unrelated but I post this anywhere. Always aim to keep four Petrified Screams after hitting Greater Rifts. One for sacrificing at Altar, rest three are for completing rank 70 gem requirement in Season Journey.
Consume Petrified Screams, and aim to score a rank higher than 70 and a rank 125 Whisper if you can, for later nodes in the Altar. Stash all Whispers you got and go into any low tier Greater Rift that you can clear fast and just upgrade any low rank legendary gem once. Watch the Season Journey achievements stack up and complete itself when you only have around rank 30 legendary gems at best.
I always hold out 3 Petrified Screams for the Altar.
1 Petrified Scream | To sacrifice on the Altar
1 Petrified Scream | To acquire a Whisper of Atonement Rank 125 for the Altar
1 Petrified Scream1 | For a Whisper of Atonement to Augment a Weapon for the Altar
= 3 | Petrified Screams |
1 This is optional since a Rank 30+ Legendary Gem will work for augmenting a Weapon to sacrifice. However, my personal preference is to run 1 Echoing Nightmare rather than 8 Greater Rifts (or 6 Empowered Greater Rifts) for a Gem I’ll have to sacrifice.
So far, I’ve picked up 7 Petrified Screams this Season 33. I’ve used 3 of them for the Altar, I’ve augmented my Captain Crimson’s Boots and I still have 3 stashed.
Edit: I should add that I don’t really like running Echoing Nightmares and try to avoid them. Most Seasons I finish with only 1 augmented item equipped. And I don’t normally push Greater Rifts.
(I am just sharing my personal experience).
And try to avoid running ENs (unless necessary for altar/journey) until you have obtained an immortal follower relic and a Flavor of Time. If you have a Flavor but no immortal relic, at least make sure your follower is alive before you click the pylon so you still get double duration (you don’t get their emanates if they are dead).
Having that double duration Conduit really helps boost you from wave ~100 to 126 to get the max level whisper, especially if you are playing a bit of a weaker build.
No primal drops (my question was deleted by admin lol), for some reason they keep playing with the drops and Artisians for no reason what so over. Can I do 100 Portals and 10 cowsticks to spend it all on Myriam or cool for near nothing? Can we do that over and over again forever and get little if not nothing… one dudes name was Wastingtime… fitting. Since Season 29 they have destroyed the game, that is why they made everyone agree to, “Don’t sue me bro” agreement.
