No Credit for Finishing Years of War Conquest

I have completed a Greater Rift 55 (under 15 minutes) with the Immortal King’s Call Set twice. The first time was four or five days ago; the last was yesterday. I have not gotten credit for completion. This completion should have completed the Years of War Conquest. I have previously completed a Greater Rift 55 with Inna’s Mantra, Monkey King’s Gard, Raiment of a Thousand Storms, Zunimassa’s Haunt, and Uliana’s Stratagem. Completing three conquests (Years of War is the third) is also the last things I need to complete Guardian and finish the season’s journey. I have not gotten credit for the Guardian stage and completing the season’s Journey.

OK - so it should have dinged but didn’t. Twice.

I think the game got confused because you’re using a Monk instead of a Barb… yes, there is nothing in the achievement wording that says you have to be using the right hero class.

The thing is… you and I know that the Season will end on 18 Aug… do you want to take a chance that Blizzard will see this post and react fast enough for you enjoy your Galactic Wings ? I would start thinking of a « Plan B »… ie, level up another hero, and perform the last Tier 55 GRift with the “correct” hero class.

The IK set is one of the set I used for that achievement… with my barb… no issue at all. Perhaps you want to use that one, since you have all of the equipment.

Good luck !!

I suppose it could be because of the Barb set. However, I did get credit for Zunimassa’s Haunt a Witch Doctor set while playing Monk. If I have to I can try and level a new character I’m just afraid that will not fix the problem.

We’ll see - let’s cross one bridge at a time…

Another alternative is to do a Tier 45 solo GRift in HC… without any set item. Since you are already familiar with a few hero classes… select the one you’re most at ease with, and go Ancient item farming. You just need to be a bit more careful because it’s HC… especially when you reach level 60… the drops are pretty awful between level 60 and 70.

don’t salvage your old weapons and legendary armor when you level up… just in case

Don’t the full set bonuses have to be active in order to get credit? If that is the case, wearing the gear from a different class should not grant credit. What I would consider a bug is getting credit for the Zunimassa set on a monk.

For Set Dungeons, yes. But, for a GR55, I’m not sure. Never heard of it being done with an off-Class before. But, DragonSage said:

So, go figure. I think Boubou has offered some good alternatives.

Good luck, DragonSage! :four_leaf_clover:

There is another thread of similar cases this season:

This was my response on that thread:

I searched the old forum and found this post in 2017:

This is the guideline on Icy-Veins:

:point_up_2: this is a hint how to farm sets of other classes by joining group.

Getting the Zunimassa credit on a monk should be a bug. The Blizzard season 17 blog describes the conquest in question. Just start the Blizzard launcher and click on the season 17 post. (Sorry - (I can’t post links yet).
Relevant text: “Years of War/Dynasty – Reach Greater Rift level 55 Solo with the full set bonuses of six of the following class sets”

Interesting reading. Thanks for the links. I’m surprised I missed these, especially on the old D3 Forums.

According to the Icy Veins Guide, the proper Class must be wearing the proper Set(s). And it states that you must be getting the 6-piece Bonus. Not just wearing the 6 pieces.

Even the in-game descriptions say it must be done with the 6-piece Bonus. So, the question now is, just what is the bug?

Years of War Description

Reach Greater Rift Level 55 Solo with the Bonuses of six of the following Class Sets.

Dynasty Description

Reach Greater Rift Level 55 Solo with the Bonuses of six of the following Class Sets in Hardcore Mode.

I also said this on that thread:

As I didn’t equip RoV skill, I couldn’t have any 2, 4, or 6 set bonuses of Natalya, but I still got the achievement. So, I think just wearing 6 pcs (or 5+RoRG) is good enough.

I understand.

So, what is the bug?

  1. Is the bug that you can wear 6 pieces of any Set with any Class without activating any Set Bonuses?

  1. Or, is the bug in the wording of the Conquest Description?

I want to know too.
I hope we have given enough statements. Wish QA/dev team sort it out. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

The set bonuses show active; they are green when you hover over a set-piece. They don’t give you a buff since you can’t use the skill they buff. I have been able to activate the full set bonuses using my Monk with the witch Doctor Zunimassas’s Haunt set, the Demon Hunters Natalya’s Vengeance set, and Barbarian Immortal King’s Call. So I don’t think the activation is a bug, but I’m not a dev.

I am going to level up another character, so I have an option before the end of the season. I think using a character with an off character set is more challenging; you have to figure out how to make it work and therefore more enjoyable. After all this late in the season, it will only take me a hour or two to reach level 70, and I already have several sets. I may try Natalya’s vengeance one more time with my Monk. I couldn’t get it to work before, but I have added a couple of hundred paragon since then. I also have a Wizard set I might try.

I will let you know what happens.

Thanks for all the comments

To follow up, I completed a GR 55 with my monk wearing the Tal Rasha’s set with all the benefits showing green. I did not get credit. I completed a GR 55 with a Demon Hunter wearing Natalya’s Vengeance and got credit for finishing Years of War instantly. So based on this it appears that the bug is that I was able to get credit for my Monk wearing Zunimassa’s Haunt, which is too bad as I found it much more interesting to try and make off class sets work.

That is also the way I look at it… if Blizzard doesn’t want other classes to wear the set, there is a simple solution… they can restrict the class that can wear the item…

That is exactly what Blizzard did for the Barb Waste and Raekor sets, for the Roland, Light, and Akkhan Crusader sets (why didn’t they limit the Invoker set ?), and many other sets.

What does “Reach Greater Rift Level 55 Solo with the Bonuses of six of the following Class Sets.” mean anyway ? Does it mean you need to have enough set pieces being worn so that all the bonuses are available ? or does it mean you need to be able to use those bonuses ?

The wording in French is slightly different… it reads:

Terminer une faille supérieure de niveau 55 en solo en bénéficiant des bonus maximaux de six des ensembles de classe suivants :

or… complete a solo level 55 Greater Rift while “benefitting” from the maximum bonus of six of the following class sets:

So that would seem to indicate that you need to be of the right class… because one cannot benefit from the bonuses unless playing a Barb (in this particular case).

@Maskraider, would you mind taking a look at the Chinese wording and seeing what it says ?

Anyone else can shed some light on this issue by providing details of the wording in the other languages… Spanish, Portugese, German, Italian, Polish, Russian ?

The developers may have just assumed that people would use the sets with the proper characters, and never thought about what would happen if you use sets on other characters.

It certainly never crossed my mind to try using a set with a different character when attempting that conquest.

That is a very good point, TimberWolf.

Same here… I’ve always created 2 seasonal heroes specifically for this achievement… But I can now see how it would work… heck, my barb probably doesn’t use the IK powers all that much in a 55 GRift… I’m sure that I could put anything for those 6 set pieces and still complete the GRIft in time. But I’ve never tried it because, as you said, I never thought about it that way.

The Chinese wording is “在獲得下列六種職業套裝的完整效果下,達到單人模式的宏偉秘境55級”.
That means “… with the full effect of bonus of … six class sets …”.

But I think I get the full bonus if the set(6) lights up (i.e. just equipping the set pieces), even I can’t utilize the bonus, as I said:

PS: @name didn’t notify me, perhaps due to the “,” (comma). Try not putting punctuation next time.

@Maskraider did this work ?

Didn’t know you were supposed to get notified when someone mentions your name… how would Discourse know which Maskraider I’m actually talking to ?

"… with the full effect of bonus of 6 class sets… " is yet another wording / translation; more like the English original actually since it doesn’t imply that you need to be able to use the bonuses. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Yes, I got the notification. Though not sure if it is due to “reply to”.
I think @name, “reply to”, “quote” will notify the corresponding person.

Puzzle me too.

If this is not a bug and it’s intended to work this way, it will change the way I, and other players, handle future Seasons. I find other Class Set pieces often, when playing my main Character. Usually, I just salvage them. Now, perhaps I’ll start stashing them instead.

It also means that many online Guides will need some serious updating.

Yes. But, I think it’s only when the username is preceded by the ampersat (or “at”) symbol @. (Maybe that’s what you meant by “mentions” your name). I am also not sure if using punctuation will cancel that feature.

Perhaps it can be tested sometime. You are welcome to use Perusoe’s Testing Grounds to do so. I may even try it myself, if I get up enough energy.

I would suggest using the “Reply” button at the very bottom of a thread to avoid replying to any particular post. Hopefully, that will eliminate the possibility of it notifying the user because of the Reply. (But, you probably already thought of that).

In any event, thanks for sharing. :+1:
