Nilfurs Boots Query

I have an ancient augmented (125) pair with 867 Meteor modifier on them.

How much more overall damage roughly would say a 890+ non ancient pair be?

Would it be worth wearing such a pair of non ancients?

Paragon 1650

Thanks

If I am not mistaken it is 3.3 % less DPS one the 867% pair compared to a perfect roll.

9.67/10= 0.967

1-0.967= 0.033 <=> 3.3%

But wait for Tinne or someone else to answer.

10/9.67 = 1.034 = 3,4 % more damage.

An augemtend ancient should shield about the same damage gain ~3-4% . But more Int gives you more toughness, too. So you should stick with your Ancients pair, cause it won’t make you clear higher anyways.

Math is right, a bit over 3% damage for 900 vs 867.

But it’s worth pointing out that the variable affix on Nilfur’s only applies to meteors that hit 3 or fewer targets. You always get the flat 600% bonus for meteors hitting >3 targets, and that roll is not variable.

So Nilfur’s affix roll mostly only helps vs. RGs and finishing off the odd elite. And maybe the odd pull with giant enemies like Golgors or something, where you just can’t pack them that tightly together.

In big pulls with small or medium size enemies, the Nilfur affix roll isn’t super important, because almost all of your meteors will hit >3 targets anyway.

And the variable affix on Nilfur’s doesn’t really scale well with area damage. You’ll get most of your area damage from meteors hitting many enemies, so most of your area damage procs will be scaled off the flat 600% from Nilfur’s. Meteors that hit <3 enemies aren’t triggering very much area damage. So when you factor in area damage, the Nilfur’s roll contributes very little in big pulls. Even if you have a few stray meteors falling off to the side and hitting <3 enemies and getting the 850-900% Nilfur’s bonus, those meteors aren’t adding much area damage, and as a result are contributing very little to your total dps in the pull. Most of your damage is coming from the meteors that land more towards in the middle, hit many targets, and proc lots of area damage. And those meaty meteors don’t get the variable Nilfur’s bonus, they just get the flat 600%. In density, most of your total damage will scale off the flat 600% + area damage.

So it’s not super high priority. You still want to get a sort of decent roll on there, but I’d augment and use any decently rolled ancient (int+vit+15% meteor and 850+% affix) over a 900 non-ancient.
