With Lord Greenstone’s Fan, Fan of Knives is also on a 30 second cool down. Adding it to Shadow Set will make it a very viable trash killer that plays similar to the style of Bazooka but you don’t need a nasty macro to play it.
Meta DH trash killer, maybe?

Trash killer on a elite killer set? I don’t know… It’s cool that you are playing shadow and MS in a different way imo.

Yeah, if you want single target, you put on Karlei’s Point; if you want to be trash killer, you put on Lord Greenstone’s Fan. Both are daggers. And both fit the Shadow set’s melee attack style very well. This can give Shadow set some great diversity that fits its philosophy.

I’d like to see multishot be a better trash killer or even for speed runs.

You should check out my concept for reworking the demon hunter sets. Shadows mantle incorporates fan of knives as its primary defensive skill and adds Chakram as trash clear:

I like this suggestion, as it maintains the single, huge, easily targeted hit along the lines of Star Pact.
While I would be more than fine with MS as a Rat Run alternative, I very much do not want to go back to a fast hitting low damage trash killer setup (IE, Firebats, MS, N6M4, Hammers, Blessed Shield etc). It just results in too much lag, and it is very unlikely that this will change at this point.

I am on board with what a lot of posters are noting about UE and Shadow keeping their identity.
Instead, I would like to see something as simple as “Your multishot deals 40% additional area damage” added to the 4pc bonus of the UE set.
The area damage is arbitrary, the number can be debated, but I would like something done with that set other than “deal x% damage per Y discipline points”.
For shadow, to add a bit of power, you could add “Your impale does equal damage to the 3 closest targets as long as you have recently hit an enemy with fan of knives, buff lasts 5 seconds.” A good group will be able to stack elites on top of eachother, and this sort of punch would greatly improve the Shadow role in a meta group.

Small issue with your idea and that is what are you planning on doing for the 30 seconds between FoKs? The majority of dh toolkit require a bow. So your not going to do much but vault. Maybe impale just for free vaults. Don’t get me wrong I love the skill but the rest of your idea needs to be fleshed out.
Isn’t fok on mauraders already? If there isnt enough of a multiplier o. That. Or with nats to be a trash clear then it needs at least 1 more Lego with fok on it outside of sets.

I’ve been asking for a similar buff in other posts, You don’t want FoK added to the 6pc bonus, that’s only first enemy hit.
You need LGF and the 2pc modifiers boosted. We should be asking for more damage every 15 seconds, not every 30, so we can blast stuff on every CoE cycle – make the gameplay quick/high pressure, not slow paced herd and destroy like Bazooka.
Getting the same damage every 15 seconds is a 2x boost, but it should probably be more like 1200% per second up to 15 seconds (1.5x). The 2pc bonus should go up to 12000%, which is another 2x. I’d also opt to have the bonus last for 2 seconds after firing FoK, so we can choose the runes like Knives Expert. Maybe adjust the rune that boosts the AoE range to hit all targets, not capped at 5.
Let’s say it gets modified this way, the outcome would be:
- S6 Impale. (2x stronger)
- S2 FoK (6x stronger)
You could also hybrid S6 Impale and FoK (which does work today w/ ORotZ, it is just weaker than S6 Impale).
