Yes, Orlash rocks. I welcome him into all ivory tower pushes, second is Hamelin, then Saxtris.
Thank you for double checking. I know what it feels like to be uncertain, and knowing EF can’t sustain with HF is valuable info.
That’s a great point about the skill slot. This requirement will favor builds that actually use the Fist of Heavens in some way, and impede those builds that don’t.
Is this a good thing for the set? I think no - it would be better if heaven’s fury were able to proc or be included in the 4pc.
Even if it’s not as viable for solo, I’m looking forward to that HF RGK build.
I can really see myself enjoying a lot of these. Can’t wait to see the patch notes!
yah i doubt it. probably just another Fires of Heaven noob that thinks they understand HF.
Sure blessed ground will stack shield of fury faster, but not much faster, maybe 10% more in a long fight. And it doesnt matter much at all, because It’s a multiplicative buff that is additive with itself. The stack damage will still be close to the same for both runes. The difference is that Ascendancy hits mobs more, especially single target bosses, even if it stacks very slightly slower. And Ascendancy is a lot more base damage than blessed ground. It does better DPS in the end. It’s better.
I’m finding the opposite, Ascendancy hit fewer mobs, or applied less ticks to everything. If you have 20 trash pieces surrounding an elite, the beam may not reach the elite. Only when the trash is gone does it feel similar to blessed ground.
My feedback is based on game play. I watch the enemy health bars and I compared the GR timer on several occasions. It was about 1.5-2x slower grift progress with those 3 runes in GR115, that’s solo play.
It could very well do better as a single target RGK, than say blessed ground. I briefly tested it again hoping to see something remarkable, so I gave it an honest try again on quick GR100s, with both runes, each boss died in 3 CoE cycles. More tests are needed, i did get Eskandiel twice, who spawne adds – i want to see it on single target and run the video in slow motion?
Do you have any footage that you can share? Maybe we’re doing something wrong with the game play, sometimes it helps to see how another person is playing it.
Tested it 100’s of times and we both know for a fact Ascendancy will never be as strong as blessed ground. Arguing for the sake of arguing is all he is doing however if you run condemn vacuum with it, it is significantly stronger.
Really ? I would say the noob trap is to take a DoT rune on HF instead of the spender one, that does way more damage.
I tried this on PTR and found it to be very underwhelming. The changes look promising though! My only concern is does it really mesh well with the season theme? I think most people will be trying to get the environmental effects to kill packs of blues and elites. Being mobile and fast at killing trash seems to be to be of paramount importance.
Finally a good news: they have reduced the cooldown of bombardment by 60 seconds.
Until today it was 120 seconds: it was ridiculous since we were forced to wear a non-sense belt like the Belt of Trove. Now it is required a 66% CDR to have perma 4-p Invoker bonus; this fact opens new ways in theorybuilding.
I have already experimented Crimson + Invoker, dropping off Provoke to pick up Bombardment and cubing Aquila Cuirass, wearing Tyrael’s Might: it is nice because many élites and RGs are demons so we have a fresh independent 20% multiplier. Well done, Devs!
Now a last step: fix the Vo’Toyas Spiker so it can work properly with Boyarsky Chip. These are two other items that must work together.
It was never 120 seconds ? cf https://youtu.be/dyETiTbcyk0?t=359
to see it was already 60 seconds back in S5…
Strange. I was sure was 120 seconds but it seems I am wrong!
Not sure how to play this. HF Shotgun and FotH never synergised. It’s gonna feel very wonky. Only build I remeber that utilised something like this was using every other rune besides Fires if Heaven. Maybe 2 piece bonus should be made so that Heavens Fury also buff FotH. I think having this set as a FotH main dealer will make the playstyle more plausible. Others may disagree.
So if it’ll be possible to play shotgun-ish and some guys can already do like GR’s 118 with Akkhan’s now, I do have a question: shall I already start to farm BiS LoD Non Season gear to optimize a full FoTH build while expecting a very obvious quick nerf if that goes live like this, after the 1st guys have been able to do 150s solo?
The bracers of fury do not synergize with ivory tower. HF Shotgun wont work at all.
They have to be equal damage dealers otherwise there is no incentive to play FotH.
Here’s my prediction for solo push if the set stays similar:
- Low paragon players will run FotH. Either pure fissure or hybrid w/ HF blessed ground.
- Below 2k paragon, pure HF Ivory Tower clears will require Eso+Mutilation Guard and or Justice Lantern / Unity.
- Higher paragon players will see acceptable solo clears when they reach certain main stat milestones. They will first exchange JL/Unity for CoE, then defensive legendary gems for offensive ones. Mutilation Guard for Gogok/PE, and eventually Esoteric -> Stricken at very high paragon. It is going to make pure HF appear as the strongest Crusader build.
Assuming the 6pc bonus is not set in stone… that 2pc absolutely needs to buff FotH. Was the 2pc bonus a mix up? The wording is rather strange, almost like someone in community wrote it. Given the multipliers, it should have been HF buffs FotH. There is wiggle room on damage % for Heaven’s Fury, there is none for FotH. Ideally the 2pc bonus should buff both skills for build diversity.
Despite the shoulda-coulda talk, I have very high confidence in them getting the numbers right in the patch notes.
You are seeding so much disinformation it is beyond me ivory tower does take hf increase damage from your gear also from bracers of fury but troll like you did not figure out that you hit enemies with immobilize instead of blind so they continue to hit you and you have proced bracers in same time
dmkt instead going for unity wear ice climbers boots and stone gauntlet in cube paired with rorg much more toughness and if you need 2 defensive gems go eso for Dr and gizzard for regen or gogok for as and cdr i think those are better choices
Only if you’re playing a FoTH single attack build; otherwise you’ll need FoTH to power up HF. Like using WW to stack stricken in the new Wrath of the Wastes setup on ptr.
Don’t get me wrong, FotH should be a damage dealer as well as a buff stacker, but it would need a lot of damage to compete with HF. I’d rather see HF stronger thus giving the set a higher clear potential than weaker because of ‘feels.’
In reality we should be discussing defense, this set is seemingly lacking a tonne of it.
Not a good idea to tie the stacking damage buff to a high resource/cd skill, even with the shield. Would be better if FoTH just buffed both like you suggested in a later post. That way you could have a speed setup that didn’t rely on HF at all.
Don’t be a fool; this set has neither the damage nor the defensive ability to do 150. If you’d like to provide math to show where the set is going to land in terms of output vs abilty to handle incoming damage that would be something but we don’t need pointless hyperbole.
I totally would but i’m trying to squeeze in Captain Crimson.
Here is the load out i’m aiming for:
Aegis of Valor Set: Helm, Shoulders, Gloves, Pants, Chest
Captain Crimson Set: Belt, Boots
Jewelry: CoE, Compass Rose, Traveler’s Pledge
Weapon: Fate of the Fell, Shield of Fury
Cube: Ivory Tower, Stone Gaunts, RoRG
Skills: FotH:Divine Well, Heaven’s Fury: Blessed Ground, Judgement: Debilitate, Laws of Valor: Unstoppable Force, Iron Skin: Flash, Akarat’s Champion: Prophet
Passives: Hold Your Ground, Laws of Valor, Finery, Heavenly Strength
Legendary Gems: Bane of the Trapped, Gogok of Swiftness, Esoteric Alteration
If i get my butt kicked, then i’ll switch out CoE for Justice Lantern. Btw, a good shield with 30% block chance is needed for this to work well.
Can you get perma CC immunity with that setup ? Seems super sketchy to include stone gauntlets if you can’t.
You make a really good point Jay. The cooldown of the base skill is too long @ 20 seconds, but it takes only 1 cast to bring you up to 3 stacks if the buff works like Gogok. The buff would fall off after 5 seconds, it wouldn’t be permanent without outrageous CDR (75% – it’s doable, but outrageous).
They’d have to edit the duration to match the 4pc’s 10 seconds duration, the set would require 50% CDR to function, you’d cast both Judgement and Blessed Ground at the exact same time on Physical and Holy.
It’s kind of crappy for players with light game knowledge, but then again, many sets have high CDR requirements, just like Akkhan’s 56% sweet spot, Uliana’s, Vyr’s etc.
The Shadow set grants the bonus to all 3 knives (two from quiver) when you hit the rg, so it’s the same mechanic with proper positioning. Also the 6pc is 75 000, can’t overlook that.
No it doesn’t. Shadow set is (weapon,dagger) * 61*750=61 488 000
AoV is (weapon)4200= 2 812 800
If the 2pc multiplies itself, as it 100 to the power of three you get the below. I suspect that the 2pc is a different multiplier but stacks with itself additively. Wording is different and we’d have to actually test it to see what’s going on.
(weapon)11 000200=7 032 000 000
This would give a higher total, but it relies on the 2pc being the sum total of 100100100. If that isn’t the case than Shadow 2pc/6 wins.
+1 for making the point about cdr in actual numbers, my brain isn’t working so great right now.
