New Primal System

I have an idea for a new primal system (probably not original):

To make primal drops more meaningful introduce a crafting system to ‘re-roll’ primal drops:

  1. You get a primal you cant use, you salvage it, you receive 1 primal essence.
  2. Somewhere out in the world different bosses will have a chance to drop primal blacksmith recipes. Each recipe is kadala style generic so you’d get ‘primal recipe: shoulders’ for example.
  3. After you get a recipe and 5 primal essences you craft a random primal shoulder item.

To me this would make primals more fun because even a bad one can help you get closer to a good one while still maintaining a decent amount of rarity.

Thoughts?

Why is it always 0-post people who make awful idea threads?

Considering there are dozens of item types - made even worse by their one handed/two handed variants - as well as the fact that there’s several slots whose legendaries ALL suck, it would take years to complete the package.

I’ll stick with the awful 0.1% we got now.

No. Thanks.

Sorry, I’m a little confused. The point of this would not be to make primals common, just to give a little more purpose to the bad ones you get. Why would you want to stick with the lower probability of ever getting something good versus a slightly higher one?

As for the 0 post status… gotta start somewhere!

I would rather them just make the reforge recipe keep the status of a primal, so when you reforge a primal, it stays primal. It is already pretty rare to get a primal for a piece of gear you already need. No need to further punish players by making them farm a ton to make that primal actually useful.

Would there be additional farming? This is just giving you an extra more targeted primal ever 5 bad primal drops. If anything it would reduce your farm I was thinking.

Botters paradise???

Probably going to keep botting either way, not sure a slight increase in primal viability is going to influence that decision.

the problem with your suggestion bobbyyjy is that it just adds even more layers of RNG to the process…

the simplest, and easiest solution without adding layers of RNG is to allow the mystic to re-enchant primal items twice…

Something needs to be done about the useless, and I mean USELESS, primals that currently drop. Six of my last 8 primals consisted of 3 pieces of Blackthorn’s set, a scoundrel token, a ring with garbage stats, and a two-handed sword with useless stats. That’s 75% useless crud that turned into less than two reforge attempts worth of Forgotten Souls. Honestly I’m to the point when I see that red beam/icon I’m afraid to look at what the game puked up for me because it’s going to be an insult most of the time. Primal drops are rare enough they should mean something not just be more totally meaningless forge fodder.

Or just remove primals so people can finally stop complaining about them being useless.

They mostly seem to cause frustration within the player base while not adding anything new or meaningful to the game :woman_shrugging:
