static probably means that its there for ever until you unequip the item its on.
Like, theres certain skills that buff your elemental damage for a short while like the cold rune on black hole.
And like CoE. Probably. Not sure about this one
The way I read it, the wording has been changed to specify it won’t work with the new SoJ.
Static bonus comes from gear that has +##% to [Element] Skills.
CoE is a temporary rotating effect = not static.
Meaning SoJ is still gonna be useless.
To some extent I disagree. With this SoJ change one could pile up single element buff on gear but would not be locked using that element. For example one could pile up fire damage on gear and still use cold rune on skills if it’s the most damaging one.
Rune choices on skills are no longer “element locked”, giving some freedom there. LoD builds could benefit from this.
That’s assuming I understood the functionality of the power correctly.
It will only be mildly useful while gearing up.
When you complete your set and begin the upward grind towards completing the season, it becomes 100% irrelevant as you switch to your usual single-skill getup.
And you missed the point. Even when using the usual single skill setup, you’re no longer bound to specific element.

I think i get it now.

You have to give up a gear slot which means what? 60% extra elemental damage on your SECOND most damaging ability. There is no build in the game this will be BiS.
If you are using it the way you suggest it is even worse, you are either wasting an item slot to correct bad rolls on bracers and neck or are now giving up 2 extra slots, so THREE item pieces for an extra 40 elemental damage (Cindercoat, Magefist).
Um…yeah you are. You still use Cold WW for pulling in + physical Bloodbath Rend, Fire Multishot for the extra rockets, whichever Meteor rune for Tal Rasha you’ve always used (mainly Meteor Shower), yada yada yada…
Your main killer stays the same.
I am surprised that Blizzard hasn’t removed fire, cold, lightning, physical, poison, holy, and arcane damage from the game and combined it into one ‘form’ of damage to fit all classes. Don’t get me wrong, I am thankful they haven’t. I am just surprised that they haven’t done that yet.
