In order of priority:
Stricken is best for solo pushes if you don’t run with Odyssey’s End and Squirt’s Necklace.
Zei’s Stone of Vengeance is best for highest damage in speed runs or if you run with Odyssey’s End and Squirt’s Necklace (you can skip Stricken for boss then).
Taeguk is best for the extra toughness if running with Fortress Ballista to keep Squirt’s Necklace up full-time and still provides a comparable damage boost. Note: Taeguk’s damage bonus is additive, so do not use this gem if you or someone else is running Odyssey’s End or Threatening Shout - Falter.
great thanks…running with Dawn and quiver cubed fortress) and running solo. Are people also using crimson gear as well? (I have a complete set but have added crimsons as well)…I can spam vengeance which seems pretty nice
No, the benefits do not outweigh the drawbacks:
Captain Crimson Pros:
Captain Crimson Cons:
Those two cons are major losses for damage and/or toughness.
I see a lot of players using Simplicity’s Strength, Taeguk and Stricken, especially in high GRs. That seems to be an valid option as well, and by my experience it’s working quite nice. Seems that BotT is not a “must-have” as in most other builds.
But it all depends on the play style and the variant you play. With Odyssey and ES, Taeguk is probably not a good option (additive damage).
Understand simplicity’s strength is core for this build, what else can I be using besides BoTt and Shricken for quick runs or low/mid GRs if I’m running Dawn with Echoing Fury?
Really can’t make up mind which you go:
-BoTt
-Simplicity’s strength
-Shricken
-Boon of the Hoarder
-Zei’s vengeance
-Taeguk
Also wonder what’s good accessories to cube besides COE for quick runs…
I am running now with
taeguk
simplicity strength
striken
Using Dawn and Fortress Ballista
Cubed are 9th, depth diggers and elusive ring
nemesis bracers
hunters wrath
FOT
Admittedly I am below p1000 but I am still running pretty quick through GR75 3-4 min or better.
Simplicity (must have)
Stricken (must have or riftboss takes too long to kill)
BotT (if Devour or Thrill)
Taeguk (if non-cc skills)
Cubing broken promises any good? The bonus sounds pretty good, just not sure how it works…
Nope, not a good idea. Unless maybe if you get rid of all CHC on your gear, so that you have only the base 5% CHC … so you can stack other rolls …
If you have the usual value of something between 40% and 60% CHC, it is very unlikely that you get 5 hits in a row without any crit. Therefore, this ring does just nothing in most cases.
Thanks for sharing, got it now, I’m at 45% chc so yeap won’t be using this cube
I use Simplicity’s Strength, Teaguk, and Stricken.
I was told the difference between the damage of BotT and Teaguk isn’t that big and the defense of the gem is what I’m really after. I use Strafe Icy Trail to proc Cull the Weak.
I’ve cleared a 130 and have come really close to clearing 131 at a little over 3K paragon.
But really, Teaguk gives your Fortress Ballista Shield a little more power allowing me stay in the middle of mobs dancing across affixes unharmed.
Basically, I play GoD like one would WhirlRend. Right in the thick of the mobs letting them group up around me.
That’s my playstyle. It could work for you as well.
Another thing, once you get around 2K paragon, you might want to throw some points in Vitality to boost your Fortress Ballista a bit more.
At 3K paragon, I’ve put 500 paragon worth points in Vitality to give me just over 1 mil life.
This might sound like you’re going to lose a lot of damage, but as Iria pointed out in his thread about density scaling, your damage will actually go up thanks to better pulls.
To put it this way. I completed a 128. Then I put those 2500 points in Vitality and I jumped two Grift Tiers and am working on a 3rd.
That’s just what I’ve done. I know not everyone has the paragon to do that but if your around 2.5k paragon, try putting 500 of that in Vitality and see how it goes.
Just a suggestion.
Vit is really strong here (similar to UE nades back in the days), as it boosts Ballista and the secondary effect from Simplicities (LoH).
Does anybody know how many LoH hits we get per second?
4% of max health
Which only goes up as vit rises
I know - but my question was: How many hits that return do we get per second?
The HA piercings don’t return live, Base APS should be 2APS. So is it 2 hits per second or more (not sure how Strafe channeling works for LoH).
Would that not vary based on max health. More health more LoH…More Vit More Health. if you had 1000 health you would get 400 per hit, at 10000 4000 it scales up as you increase your max health. It may only be the initial hit and not piercings that return that 4% as it would have already returned its 4%…I would look at shots per second x 4% max health and assuming that each shot hits something would give you your LoH give or take based on possible misses.
There’s a lot of good info in this one post!
I took your advice and dumped paragon points into Vitality until I reached 1 million HP (I was running with 550k HP before) and it made a world of difference, I improved my 115 clear by a min (from 9mins to 8mins), my health hardly dropped the entire rift and I felt safe strafing in the middle of density much like you would with a WhirlRend Barb.
Just cleared 132 about 3 hours ago.
Wound up dumping another 500 paragon worth of points into Vitality. It was a pretty good rift though. Battlefields followed by Festering but the third map was sewers.
No wallers but no missile dampeners either. Got a conduit on Festering but it only helped me kill two elites. All the other elites were skipped once I killed the trash around them.
Got a Power Pylon on the Guardian (The Binder) and finished the Grift with under five seconds left.
Just wanted to get that out there. And I’m still under 3100 paragon.
Congrats…just hit 92 being sub 1000. Still looking for an ancient Valla’s to swap in and out with Fortress…Getting that Primal Dawn helped a lot.
Though they found the interaction with Valla’s, I’m thinking it’ll work best for folks with high paragon. It appears that the pierces and extra primary have a correlation between how close mobs are together and how many.
But to gather the mobs you have to survive taking damage, and a lot of it. Keeping mobs gathered together isn’t easy. So at low paragon levels, I thank it’s best to keep using Fortress. That way you can stay in the middle and keep them gathered around you and your shield takes the brunt of what the mobs deal out.
I use Fortress because of this reason. I’ve tried Valla’s but without the shield from Fortress, it’s tons and tons harder to keep mobs gathered. If the mobs aren’t packed relatively tightly, you may never see that extra primary Valla’s provides.
