New Forum Guide - Syntax & Features

Thank you, Tried it with success.

Heh. Apparently Blizzardā€™s implementation of Discourse is partially insecure. Main code hosted by Blizzard is processed via TLS, but images and videos that are embedded into posts are not. Pretty big security hole thereā€¦

Not only that, after looking at my own link posted above, anyone can see what country I live in and other details. Anyone that wanted nobody to know where they lived would probably be upset.

Technically, anyone can do this with any user. Itā€™s not huge, but itā€™s not a great thing either. At least if people want their privacy maintained, it does not include their name I suppose. :expressionless:

EDIT for example:
https://us.forums.blizzard.com/en/d3/u/TheTias-1192.json

Only you can see that info. I canā€™t see your country of origin there. Thatā€™s stored in the auth token and is only viewable to Blizzard and yourself. That part Iā€™m not really worried about.

Itā€™s been a while since I have been part of such a young forum. Itā€™s nice to see things develop. It will be nice not to be part of a forum with over 5 million, members.

Can anyone confirm if the restrictions on making more than one reply on oneā€™s own post lift when you reach TL3? Iā€™m currently working on a WD compendium/new player guide as Iā€™ve noticed there isnā€™t one, but Iā€™m going to hit an early roadblock if I canā€™t make more than one reply to the master post without waiting for a second commenter - itā€™s going to turn into a massive, difficult to read wall of text otherwise :sob:

The restriction is for everyone, regardless of trust level. Itā€™s an anti-spam measure independent of normal trust levels (it may even impact Blizzard employees).

If you are making a guide, you can do it all in one post and make a table of contents to anchors within the post. That way you can make the post sectionalized. Here is an example of a guide thatā€™s exceptinoally long, but kept manageable via a ToC and flyouts.

Also, check out Pachimariā€™s formatting guide for a more complete set of forum formatting tools. They should come in handy when you do your guide.

Youā€™re a saint, thank you so much

Please update this block to include the fact that the ā€œlikeā€ counter uses the 100 day moving average as well! I do not know if the likes need to be on posts from within the last 100 days but the likes themselves need to be made within the last 100 days.

Yes, itā€™s 30 likes over 100 days.

Someone tell the green guy at other forums (if he doesnā€™t follow these anymore - last seen 5th of Dec) to update his OP. I see he posts at OW forums daily, but I donā€™t have an OW account and I canā€™t post there.
