… Ive been trying to get it to install but I have never gotten it to install and have been playing without it but with D2R coming out, I’m gonna get it. My question/problem is when I do the pre-purchase of D2R Prime Evil Upgrade (cause I all ready have D3 and its expansion) will my original D2 change and will it include LoD or will it stay the same and I get another D2 to play with the expansion LoD?? Or should I pre-purchase just D2R??
late edit: If your CDs are in great shape please be sure you have both D2 classic and LoD downloaded from the battle net or installed as retail. If one is installed as retail copy without redeeming the key, and one installed after redeeming its key; such problems might occur as expansion pack install gonna search for mpq files of the classic to update them.
Also be sure you updated to v1.14d patch from the official Blizzard FTP after installing them both; this fixes most compatibility issues of modern computers. http://ftp.blizzard.com/pub/diablo2exp/patches/PC/LODPatch_114d.exe
If you have keys redeemed from the Account Settings you should be able to access to Diablo 2 forums as well.
Why are you trying to install the game from your CDs? If you had a legit cd-key, just redeem it from your Account Settings. If your CDs are corrupted or scratched, things won’t go smoothly. Just click the small arrow next to your name at the upper right of the screen for drop down menu then you’ll see a shortcut to Account Settings. Don’t forget to update to v1.14d after installing it.
Also if problem persists try to reserve a ticket from Support directly or ask at Technical Support forums.
It’s not about D2R, neither about D3. I suggest you to contact Support by reserving a ticket or post in Technical Support section by scrolling down at the main page of forums. They only meant to help about D3 related technical problems though, so your go-to option is contacting Support directly by clicking it from top of the page next to your profile name.
They’re separate games. D2 is a remaster but it’s entirely separate install like a remake game. As far as we know, it will not touch your main D2 files or change them.
If you want to play D2 and D2 only, you shouldn’t impulse buy things when you just encountered a small problem. Try to install from digital if physical retail copy gives you issues. As long as you have the legit key for the game, you’d be able to install from digital platform.
I’ve tried to install straight from Blizz as well as my disk. Both work just fine and play, its getting LoD to install and run.
My disks are still in great shape and there was no problem installing from them and playing the game. I ran into a problem when I couldn’t find my key code to my copy of LoD and i purchased one from Blizz. I tried to contact them bout it but I have not gotten anywhere on that part, but nonetheless, I was wondering if it was gonna change my old version or not and if so, would it have mattered if my old version didn’t have LoD installed, but seeing as it doesn’t connect to the old version, my question has been answered and i only need D2R and nothin more.
