I thought I would show off the build for my witchdoctor I plan on doing and get some thoughts on it. I do need some requirements on what gear I should put for my shoulder, wrist, and neck and also what last passives I should take. I’m however wondering if I should use spit (or Homunculus) or The tall man’s ring?

Hi, I see you want to go for a full pet build which could be quite interesting to play. I would not go for the Zuni set if you want to go full pet because you would not have space for all the items required to do so. I personally would focus around a LOD set like this:
Helm: Carnevil is indeed the best pick
Shoulders: Pauldrons of the skeleton king (for the change to avoid dying)
Amulet: Hellfire for extra passive, The flavor of time and Squirt Necklage are all
options here.
Chest: Aquila Cuirass for extra survivabily since you will not have mana problems in this build.
Gloves: Taskers and theo for the extra pet attack speed or stone gauntlets for extra defense (would require Ice Climbers as boots instead of the Illusory if you dont want the downsides of this item)
Bracers: Lakumba’s ornament for the extra defence or Nemesis if you don’t wont to use the defence stats with the cost of survivability.
Belt: Belt of transendence (free’s up an extra passive slot since you won’t need the Fetish Sycophants passive) or witching hour if you want full damage but you will lose a passive. The belt of transendence only procs with mana spenders, Piranhas will not be a quick way to do this and if you have high attack speed the Witching Hour + Fetish Sycophants will allow you to free up a mana spender skill slot.
Pants: Depth diggers are required to do poison dart damage and if you really want sacrifice in your build then Swampland Waders is another option if you can cube the Depth Diggers. I personally would leave out Sacrifice in the build because you will have a lot of mixed elemental damage already. And then you can free up a slot extra for the main damage.
Ring 1: The Short mans finger for the garg damage.
Ring 2: Convention of elements for the 200% elemental damage rotation which comes down to 50% extra damage on average.
Boots: Illusory boots to be ablo to walk through groups of mobs and such
Main hand: Sacred harvester to synergise with the Lakumba’s bracers or In-geom for speed runs.
Offhand: Spite is fine if you want to go with the restless giant. Another fun item to use is the thing of the deep for speedruns since it will work great with the Grave Injustice and Gruesome Feast Passives. For more defense you can also go for Uhkapian Serpent or that Cat mojo but you will loose the cleave on gargs.
Cube slot 1: The dagger of darts to gain the full 500% damage increase
Cube slot 2: Mask of Jeram for the pet damage
Cube slot 3: Echoing fury if you want insane attack speed with the poison darts. Humonculus if your really want to go with Sacrifice although I would personally replace that with soul harvest for the sacred harvester and lukumba buffs which will give you way more defense and offense. You can also pick a unity ring here if you are using the Squirt necklage to compensate for the defense loss. Or pick a Flavor of time if your are using a hellfire ring as amulet.
For skills I would replace the following things:
- Poison Dart - Spined Dart (for the constant mana upkeep so the chest piece will always work)
- Piranhas - Piranhado
3.Zombie dogs - leeching beasts for the extra life regen if you decide not to use sacrifice. - Spirit Walk -Severance (for escape and just speeding things up)
- Soul Harvest -Languish (to stack for the sacred harvester and Lakumba’s)
- Gargantuan - Restless giant or humongoid of you want to ditch the spite for another item.
Passives:
- Midnight Feast (required for petbuild)
- Grave Injustice (highly recommend for the cooldown)
- Pierce the Veil (You will not have mana problems at all with a pet build so the extra 20% damage is always welcome)
- Gruesome Feast will work great when using thing of the deep or having high pickup range. Spirit Vessel if you need it but pet build are generally safe to play so you can also pick something like Fetish Sycophants if you are using witching hour as belt, Confidence Ritual for extra damage, Swampland Uttunement for defence or Fierce Loyalty for speedruns.
- This will be a slot that opens up if you use a hellfire ring and can be used for all mentioned for passive slot 4.
The the Legendary Gems:
- Legacy of dreams (required)
- Enforced (for pet damage)
- Simplicity’s Strenght for the damage of your poison darts
Some extra thoughts:
You don’t need the fetish army skill if you use the belt of transcendence. More fetishes will also get in the way of your gargs doing damage.
LOD vs Zuni is always debatable but for a full pet build I would go LOD because it allows you way more build variaty and the 9k vs 15k damage is something you can make up for with the extra item slots you gain. Also the zuni build only works with skills that cost mana and your pets won’t trigger it so now you only have Piranha’s which would proc it, the same counts for for the belt you have chosen so adding someting like Haunt will allow you to do way more effective damage with this set. This is not required for LOD which will make it easier to play with. If you want to go for a fun build just go for LOD but give both a try and judge for yourself.
It’s alot of text but I hope I have giving you some things to think about.
