i gifted my friend the game and everything was working fine, i refounded it for a problem we were having with gift times and when the game got removed (because of the refound9 i gave him the money and he bought diablo 3 again. afterward he could not pick up items that we found togheter and it said this item belongs to another player even tho in the list of people eligeble to share this item and his name was present, his ign is adeyemi#2360.
also before the first refound everything was working perfectly fine so i guess it has something to do with that
If your friend just recently bought their copy of the game, it can take up to 72 hours before you can share items you find in the same game. Wait 3 days and see if it clears up.

That same thing happen to me and my GF. I was leveling her up and we couldn’t share stuff. We both restarted the game. We close everything out and then restarted the game. After that we were fine and that was day 1 of her playing on a new account. Plus we didn’t have to wait 72 hrs either.
