MTX = Loss of playerbase

  1. Never cared
  2. People can do the same thing by transmogging low level items not bought from a shop. So you concern has no merit since it will happen independent of an item shop.

No true. Cosmetics take very little time by comparison and if WoW is any example, they are usually done by an artist in their down time, or will have a separate team dedicated to making them.

That’ll show them. Hey screw you and your decisions, I’ll still support your game later on when it’s a bit cheaper.

Until it is just a cosmetic things, no stash tabs or anything involving game, who cares? Want to buy it? Go ahead. Don’t want to? Who forces you?

I don’t mind for that kind of monetization if i know this will keep game alive. They are making money - they are interesting of the game and implementing new content.

Okay, good for you.

I’m the same way. I don’t need instant gratification in games. I wanna be able to work for it.

But you’re a single person not millions of other people. Also look up the logical fallacy ad hominem and stop. K thanks.

Dude…in this game they said that customization will play a huge role so it sucks to have to buy cool thing to be ā€œprettyā€ instead of earning it just by playing an already 60$ game…if it was f2p then i wouldn’t care…and with that thinking AAA companies turned games into mobile cashgrabs…microtransactions are bad for the game but good for the company you need to understand this…everything in-game should be earnable just by playing the game…if they need more money they can release expansions which means more in-game content…look how well cd project red is doing just by releasing full games with no bull crap microtransactions…its just greed my friend…nothing else…

If it means more content then sign me up. Ill pay for extra inventory tabs. Hell ill buy the cosmic wings too. As long as i enjoy the game for replayability then keep them mtx coming.

To each their own.

That’s their way for making money yes, but we’ll be getting new content and until it will be just cosmetic thing, nothing force you to give them your money. There will be players who like it and gonna buy it and as a result these who don’t like it will get updates too so benefit for all.

Many people in this thread mention PoE. But PoE is free to play. Completely free. You only need to buy additional stash tabs for QOL.
Is Diablo 4 going to be free to play? Then MTX are pretty logical. But pay for the game itself, then pay for an expansion and then still pay MTX? Seriously?

Read what I said, and by read what I really mean is READ and understand and then realize it was the new generation of gamers who want everything handed to them that caused this issue.

They can make money with expansions they will already make millions from sales of 60$ and some people might buy the ultimate editions too…Microtransactions are bad for the game you need to understand this, i know you want to support them but you support something that makes games bad in the long run…Diablo is not f2p you will already pay 60$ plus the expansions they will be releasing. They just want more money because everyone loves money…You will realise that when you want something and you must pay for it , the best thing to do is to have all in-game content unlockable just by playing the game.As i was saying they already make so much money from f2p hearthstone (people who buy card packs) and WoW (subscription+expansions) and other games too. And as i was saying look another company like CD Projekt Red (Witcher makers , soon Cyberpunk 2077) none of their games has microtransactions and they still manage to be a big company and make games…Again its just greed and by supporting this idea you supporting a really bad feature for games…And dont tell me its cosmetic only because its an RPG for *** sake, in rpg’s you want to look awesome and powerful ! (diablo is 60$ game,PoE is F2P big difference) Play to unlock ! Not Pay to unlock
I want to pay money for additional content - the things I’m actually going to be doing in the game. I don’t want to pay to unlock customization options, especially when I’m still going to have to pay for any future expansions.I also don’t like that they reserve the best looking things for those who pay extra to buy them, as a reward for spending money, instead of as a reward for completing content.

So, since we’re going to be paying full price for the game itself, and paying full expansion price for future expansions, what development are we actually funding with MTX purchases?

Really? The impression I get just from reading the trade threads is that people just want to find others with the gear they need to trade instead of framing for the good stuff. Which BTW, if you listened to what they said at Blizzcon is they want you to work for the good stuff in game.

The bigger question is what will the actual cosmetic MTXs be? Everyone assumes gear like in PoE, but I’m willing to bet it will be mounts or mount accessories, banners if they have them in game, portraits or UI mods, pets if they have them in game, wings if they have them in game, character customization’s, character slots and stash tabs. We could see cosmetic gear, but going off what was said at Blizzcon in regards to working for the best gear, I doubt they will be throwing up flashy sets to buy.

Hell they could be the exact same cosmetics in game that are sold in the shop for those unwilling to spend time.

Not in this day and age if you want constant support and content added in between expansions/DLC drops.

I’d prefer to NOT have Barbarians wearing toothfairy costumes ruining the atmosphere of D4 and I don’t see how this is dumb.

You just single-handedly destroyed your chances of ever becoming a game designer.

There wont be shiny costumes in D4, why are people arguing about cosmetic MTX? Just get a job and you can have cool stuff too.

As much as I understand your distaste for microtransactions, you are wrong. Mtx in and of itself does NOT lead to loss of playerbase. In fact, well-implemented MTX actually serves to keep player attention and engagement through consistent flow of content.

Naturally, poorly done mtx will be a disaster. But thats just as ANY poorly designed element of the game.

What people often dont realize is that those mtx cosmetics would not just be created for free without the shop. People often complain that those cool items would have been in the base game if it wasn’t for greed of the dev. And sometimes thats true! But more often than not - it isn’t. Most often That content wouldn’t have been added AT ALL.

So yeah, OP is plainly wrong.

Get a life.

Actually you are wrong, more players like MTX and those games that implement it see a increase in players, get your facts straight
