More Character Slots to hold more builds isntead of swapping gear like another 10 slots probably would satisfy a lot of people for more characters im sure, give us more creation space!!!
You are several years too late enjoy what you have because that is all you are going to receive.
I have 17 character slots.
I have 14 I think, one for each character (class * gender, HC/SC, take your pick).
I only play 0-3 spec per character.
Ultimately I’m looking to store gear & build for each spec.
I don’t mind either way, it’s just a bit messy.
Swapping either in the stash, or logging alts frequently to check cross-build drops.
I did have multiple wizards but I consolidated.
There are two big things I think:
- hardcore players having to save extra sets (full character + follower), even if the follower is kind of standard - same about rerolls
- acknowledging which sets you won’t use and ditch them
My answer to this whole situation is that I simply don’t. I wear my best and even though I do the tetris, not sure why. I don’t even play enough to finance massive gambling habits. The only point of inventory is a buffer for processing gear (cube / upgrade).
I didn’t find this sufficient… which is why i have two accounts with 17 character slots. Wish i could combine them for double the character slots and stash space… i miss my vanilla CE goodies, etc
I almost have all my character slots filled and I have four mule characters. And you know what those mules carry? Legacy rare items from Diablo 3 vanilla times; at any given time they could have been deleted and free up tons of space for me. Some legacy legendaries still in my stash but I am keeping them for around ten Seasons now.
With all that in account, I do just fine and rebirth for Seasonal when needed. All I needed to do was keeping it strict on stat thresholds and salvage anything with more than 5-8% loss from maximum stat. This helped me to keep the trifectas and high rolls in my non-season stash and delete any non-season character that I don’t play anymore.
When I look at top players and streamers who played 30+ seasons, I see that they’re doing just fine with their character slots and stash space as well. Everyone have different comfort zones but they know how this game works and is aware that a better item just waiting around the corner and augments are plenty available.
In short; delete your mules and under developed characters from earlier seasons after filtering their items for minimal main stat loss then you’ll have enough space for creation. Current system allows you to start a pair of any class and keep your high grade gear in stash when not needed and Armory slots simply allow you to swap builds on the fly. I doubt you need 30 characters to play 80 builds but just seven with a good settled Armory, unless you have such a bond to your characters’ names.
Back in time such request for character slots have been made and the Community Manager at that time, Nevalistis, said that it’d cause more burden on servers when you change between characters frequently to use as mules. Because whenever server creates an over-world it haggles an overly complicated hash with the client. On a mass scale it’d put a burden on servers when you hit it to millions of players which cause a strain on the resources they have and they don’t want to risk it. They won’t double that kind of traffic for no good reason.
No, and no; before anyone asks, it’s not a “technical difficulty” but a strict limitation. So I guess, any thinly veiled request for more inventory space will not happen any time soon.
As for stash slots, there are two obstacles infront of it. First one being item and stash synchronization between clients that is put in place to prevent any kind of item duping. It worked well up until here and I don’t think they would get rid of that because you asked “kindly”. They have tried to test things with 14 and more stash tabs, it messed the synchronization and caused lag. Perhaps in time they may consider giving more stash tabs to SSF mode players, but I don’t see it happening soon. They have squeezed their last potential when they renewed the Followers system to have them carry full equipment slots in addition to jewelry, token and weapons.
Second obstacle is, expression of items are not as simple as you think it is. This is also the reason why you are not getting larger inventory space per character.
As far as I am concerned, items coded to only have six or seven affixes active at a time; rest of the hex code values available on the item are set to null. This is how Mystic can instantly switch between affixes on the item because it’s all available on it but set to null until recalled by reroll enchants. This means items take noticeable space already as it is and allowing players to hoard them will result more server space requirement. Which to remind, for over a decade this game haven’t been monetized at EU, US, Asia regions but in China which is now closed and inactive.
I need to go count how many I have on my PS4. I suspect it’s 14.
The extra slots are from the digital deluxe version (don’t know it that’s a thing on console?) and the Necro dlc too of course.
I have both too…I may be wrong and it may be more than 14 char slots. I think Blizzard said the same thing as it did with console stash - “we can’t improve it cos of the way the game is coded” BS. If you play NS and seasonal and SC/HC for both, you run out of slots very quickly. Along with the stash, at least on consoles, it’s just BAD game design vs the PC version of the game. The consoles are so heavily gimped it’s painful. It’s almost like Blizzard is trolling us.
But since you only play Shadow DH you really only need one character slot
Bad joke. I know. Sorry.
Same here. 3 builds per character + wardrobe variations for playing different content.
/\ This.
No point in having so many characters, even heavy hoarders like me use only 2-3 characters each season, much faster to swap the gear in wardrobe rather than relog on another character…, the rest of the characters are nonseasonal and most of them are mules that i dont play anyway.
You only need character slots if you are really undecided, but honestly swapping characters too often is not a good idea, it makes you need to play at least 1 hour to get used to playing some specific build usually
No need to apologise, gave me a good chuckle LOL.
and much easier to have a 2nd character rather than use the wardrobe for HC…also, wardrobe is still buggy as hell…so a hard pass from me.
Yeah, I went into some older characters and some have got gems missing sockets incl weapons. I know I didn’t save those build profiles that way during stash tetris.
I gladly purchased this on this alt account just to save myself having to do further stash tetris in order to free up a character slot many moons ago.
I have one character on this account that does that duty now. I gave a whole bunch of my legacy gear to a friend when I only had my main account and bugger all room left… wish I kept the Sheng Longs set from vanilla for the hadouken. Why they took that away in the rework I don’t know… it was a nice novelty with the set.
My third account (which only has the base game) could really use those legacy items! I ought to move my legacy gear there to free up my Monk mule here! Might do that when I have free time.
I think because Monk got another “hadouken” item after that. If you are into hadouken, I guess playing Gyana Na Kashu Sunwuko Monk could scratch that itch. While you scorch everything, you are very flimsy and can get insta-killed by projectile deflecting monsters such as Dervishes and Dwellers. I played it in S28, it was fun but definitely WoL is better even after its nerf.
I have an issue with HC thanks to constant server issues. Not willing to play HC usually… thanks blizzard.
Not my fault you guys hate yourself so much you need to play hc.
You can keep your items in the stash anyway, nobody REALLY ““needs”” more than 14-17 character slots. You have skill issues if you do. I already said this.
Hows wardrobe buggy ? lol?
Gems go missing from setups because of reason, its not a bug, its skill issues.
I keep multiple copies and im fine anyway cant remember last time got them missing, and it happened only because of giving gems to another character when i didnt have the spare copies of the same gems.
Skill issues.
On HC you want spares anyway so quit complaining.
Last time i played hc for pure fun in s21 i think, i had only one character and still managed to level fast enough to keep playing with the same RANDOM PUBLIC team even if i died on the GR run, and i died multiple times.
You literally sign up for wasting time, and you complain about wasting time LOL.
Why are you playing games again??? And why on “i hate myself” mode?
No, just confident in my skills.
There has been ongoing reports of gems going missing since it’s introduction. The problem was NEVER fixed, let alone addressed by Blizzard.
Since when is criticising a company for not fixing bugs complaining? As a consumer, and a paying consumer, I have every right to expect a company to fix bugs.
Fun. Challenge. Rank on the LBs.
A wee bit presumptuous.
Blizzard hasn’t listened in 24 years, why should they listen now. I have put up with cheating, dupes, stolen accounts, nerfs, loss of many items, no one to talk to at Blizzard and wonder why I still support them. Immortal was a royal slap in the face, D4 sucks bigtime so I play D3 in my spare time. I am about to download BG3 and hope it buries Bilzzard in the deep grave they deserve.
I love D1, D2 and D3… i did enjoy beta of D4 but the veil on a sorcerer to above level 30 is just too much to bare anymore, or at least still as it stands it is. Not to mention how snowflakey people are on the forum over there. I’m banned for 100 years lol sados!
