Monsters blowing up after death

Does anyone else feel like the Molten mobs blowing up after 3 seconds after dying ruins the pace of the grind? Maybe the grotesque as well but theyre not as bad since they blow up much quicker. Or arcane setries still rotating after the entire pack is killed?

Its fun to avoid mobs with their own affixes you have timo be strategic about but when you need to wait 3 seconds or so after they die, some skills now lose time, buffs may have went such as ones that reqire you to keep attacking etc.

Maybe Im the only one but I personally think grinding would be a lot more fun if at the very least we didnt have to wait for Molten monsters to blow up the ground after they die. Very petty I know, but slows down my speed running in high grifts.

I kind of like it. It’s okay to slow down for a couple seconds here and there. Are grotesques annoying? You bet, but that’s part of the fun. It’s something to be cautious about which is just fine.

It’s no worse than getting the Exploding Fatso rift and having 5-6 of those per mob in floors with doors or narrow corridors like Keep Depths, Act 1 Caves or Corvus.

Honestly the most annoying to me is the desecrator because to me its just an unecessary amount of time you’re sitting there waiting for the explosion after they die if you dont have a teleport skill equipped. At least the grotesque is only like 1.5 seconds if that. But idk, when im running with 10 mages and land of the dead is active w full speed buffs it just sours my experience because my build requires me to not slow down for the best efficiency.

But you can also get the enjoyment of laughter when you time one of these explosions just right for your buddy who’s behind you to ww right into :slightly_smiling_face:

Desecrators don’t explode. That’s the MOLTEN.

Desecreators create that pool of fire on the ground.

I like it. Monsters should have a lot more ability to slow down the player and force you to make combat decisions.

Would you rather they blow up immediately and not give melee classes a chance to get out of the way?

Sorry, molten. I get those two confused, thanks

I would rather once the enemy is dead that you can just move on. Id rather he places molten on the ground randomly through the fight if need be similar to plague or freeze, but once dead, i prefer to be able to move on than still deal w their affixes. Just my own preference

Encountering a pack of grotesques is nice because they die fast, but it’s bad because they can explode and kill you. I like it as it is.

grotesques are probably my favorite mob type to fight!

I’m suddenly having flashbacks of how frustrating it was trying to get the “With Friends Like These” achievement. This was back in the good ole days though. :stuck_out_tongue:

Grotesques are the worst for my hydra wizard. Stupid knock back with the belly bumps, I’ll take the molten any day. Now molten with vortex sucks…they have the timing just right on pulling you in right when an explosion is about to happen.

I play mostly hardcore and there is a strategy that you can deploy to not have to stop for grotesque explosions … “Skip”

Or even better, lure your friends into it while laughing. What are friends for otherwise!

A lot of people talking about grotesques but honestly they take half as much time or less time than Molten monsters to explode, its the molten that REALLY slows the pace. I personally dont like grotesque either but it doesnt really ruin the pace in my runs, but molten does if you kill an elite pack that is through a doorway and now the entire room is about to explode even though the elite is already dead, but for some reason I need to sit here for 3 or 3.5 seconds waiting for the ground to explode first.

Everything else is so fast paced then you kill a molten pack and you have to sit there for what i think is an unreasonable amount of time. If it took 1.5 seconds for molten to explode like the grotesque does then honestly I wouldnt be as turned off by it. But I guess it’s just me lol, since it appears everyone else seems to enjoy that mechanic.

The Grotesque explosion doesn’t kill you.
It’s that blue circle that drains your life…and it’s physical damage.
Moltens are much easier to deal with (except +Vortex).
I’ve lost a few HC heroes to those.

And I can deal with them fine but do you not feel like when you and your group are blasting through a high GR and then kill a molten and having to wait 3 seconds per explosion to cross over where they died takes away from the pace of the run? And personally im not a fan of monsters dropping adds on the ground after death to begin with so Im definitely biased there.

Imo if 3 second stops feel like they break the pace of the game, maybe something is deeply wrong with the pace of the game.

Your wasting time typing that reply when you could be doing a bounty. Where’s the kick button here?
