Monitor Selection

Hey Blizzard - sorry I haven’t played any of your games in a long while but I’ve come back to play some D3 now and Classic WoW eventually. I currently play D3 on a MBP with an external monitor and eGPU. In order to get D3 to start on that monitor properly I have to set that external monitor as the primary monitor via System Preferences -> Displays on macOS Mojave, though I’d really rather have the MBP’s screen as primary and have D3 on the external. Starting the game on the laptop screen in windowed mode and then dragging it to the external monitor doesn’t work right because the resolution settings and refresh frequencies detected by the game will be for the laptop screen, not the external monitor. ¯\ (ツ) /¯

Today I installed the WoW Classic client and fired it up just to poke around in the settings and I see there’s an option there to choose which display the game fires up on. (Edit: I attempted to include a link to a screenshot of those options in the WoW Classic client but was denied. )

In short it would be pretty slick if you could have this in the D3 client settings as well.

Cheers

Welp, that is the worse client MacOS to play D3 … Because you will not get any 64 bit support aka D3 will not be able to address more than 4GB of ram . So if you MBP has more than 4GB ram, those remaining memory is basically a room heater . My advice is install boot camp on your MBP and dual boot Windows 64 bit , then play your D3 in Windows . D3 64 bit windows client will be able to address more than 4Gb of Ram and your external monitor will be able to address more than 60hz (60 FPS) depending on your hardware (eGPU and external monitor) .
D3 windows client does not need to have the extra settings that you request above. It is handled by the windows OS and your hardware .
Case solved

No, not case solved. The question asked was not “is there a way to change this in the game settings, and if not can you please include it?”. FreeHK already mentioned that he can do as you asked, not you are not informing him, just being toxic. Dude, stop being toxic and either stay the heck out or answer the question. You are not helping.

I am so sad that my first post ever on the Blizzard forums is directed at this.

I too am so sad that your first ever post was to necro a thread from July 2019.
