It seems such a pity that an ability as interesting as mirror image is basically useless in anything above a gr 70. I’ve come up with some ideas for a new set and some item changes that would produce a completely new wizard playstyle option that relies on some fun abilities that don’t get enough use in the current meta.
Horazon’s Infinite Reflection
a new 6 piece set with helm, shoulders, chestplate, gloves, pants and boots
(2) Mirror images act as duplicates of you and cast a spell at your target whenever you cast a spell. Mirror images no longer taunt enemies.
(4) Diamond skin gains the effect of every rune. Taking damage whilst diamond skin is active grants you a stack of refraction for 2 seconds. Each stack of refraction causes 12% of your damage taken to instead be taken by a mirror image. Mirror images cannot be targeted by enemies whilst you have stacks of refraction. You can have as many stacks of refraction as you have active mirror images.
(6) Each Mirror image deals 100% of your damage and the damage of your Signature spells is increased by 1300% for each active mirror image.
1-Hand Wand
Slorak’s Madness
Black Hole slows enemies by 60% for 5 seconds. Enemies slowed by Black Hole take 350% increased damage from signature spells.

Mirrorball
Magic Missile fires 2 extra missiles and pierces enemies. Mirror images benefit from all magic missile effects.
The Oculus
The Fracture rune is automatically applied to teleport and summons 2 Mirror Images instead of decoys. The Mirror Images inherit all Mirror Image runes and effects.
Wizard Hat
Archmage Vicalyke
When a mirror image dies, you gain a stack of Shatter. Each stack increases your attack speed by 2-5%. Max 10 stacks.
That actually makes me want to cry. Wizards had mirror images since forever (game’s launch) and Blizzard never tried to do anything with them. Necromancers meanwhile get a set and a legendary item revolved around simulacrum. Of course, this isn’t pushing the blame on necros, this is just me venting that a cool skill like Mirror Images is pretty useless.
As for item ideas, honestly I don’t think we’ll get another set, so I’ll just post legendary item ideas.
Archmage Vicalkye (Wizard Hat): Mirror Images gain the duplicate rune and gain 400% of the Wizard’s toughness and gain 50% of the Wizard’s healing. For each active Mirror Images, Wizard gains 9% increased Arcane regeneration. Mirror Images last until they die.
BlackHand Key (Wand): Each active Mirror Images increases your damage by 30%. Mirror Images now deal 75% of the Wizard’s damage. Mirror Images cast arcane spenders whenever the wizard does.
Belt: 30% of damage taken is transferred to the Mirror Images. If a Mirror Image dies, they release an explosion that deals 300% of their damage to nearby enemies. Upon you taking fatal damage, instead sacrifice a Mirror Image and recover your full health and arcane. This effect cannot occur more than once every 30 seconds.
Let me repost a little something I suggested in a different topic:
Archmage’s Vicalyke:
Mirror Images stay nearby, no longer take damage and their damage dealt is quadrupled. Whenever you attack with a projectile skill, so will your Mirror Images.
Halo of Krede: [new legendary ring] [Wizard only]
Energy Armor gains the Energy Tap and Force Armor runes effect. While your armor spell is active, Mirror Images last until they are killed and all damage taken is shared between you and your Mirror Images.
See what I did there?
Of course those two alone would not be enough. It requires further updates, like a revised Mirrorball:
Mirrorball: Magic Missile gains the Charged Blast and Seeker rune effects, deals XXX% more damage and fires 2 extra missiles.
…but you won’t actually need a full set for this. That’s important because I highly doubt we will see a new class set catering orphaned wizard skills like Mirror Images anytime soon. Other classes would cry for sure.
As Corn is showing in this video, Mirror Images (unless fixed/nerfed) are going to be the carries in season 23. With proper gear and level GR 150 are easy to do.
