Hello, I’ve been a loyal Diablo fan for decades. I’ve played open BattleNet in the past and closed, both have their own merits but need to remain separate. This materials exploit in the cube is destroying the integrity of the game, especially for pushing leaderboards. I’m currently in the top 20 on 5 different hardcore ladders, pushing solo and legit.
It hurts to know that a huge percentage of players ahead of me are essentially cheating. I found out about the materials exploit completely accidentally by noticing patterns as I reforged. What I believed to be a truly random process was yielding identical results. The first time I saw it I took a screenshot shot and was tempted to buy a lotto ticket, by the 3rd time I was suspicious and started doing research and discovered the fixed nature of the current status of reforging and the exploit.
After learning that I had spent countless hours and materials reforging a ring that was destined never to go ancient, I felt duped. I can also see why people exploit for Primals, their extremely rare nature can be frustrating. I have 20+ this season and they are the worst legendaries in the game lol.
A new cube recepie could be the answer if the cheating cannot be stopped mechanically. Have Primals break down into a new material called Primal Souls and have 3 of those, 5 flawless royal gems, and an ancient item to upgrade be the formula to obtain a specific Primal. At least then I could keep up with the exploiters, and my Primal Arcstone, Grandfather, and Slorak’s Madness would feel less like insults if they were helping me reach a desired goal
Otherwise, I love the game! Any feedback will be greatly appreciated, and thanks for reading my wordy post!!!
Blizzard can’t fix botting, macros and thud on PC. Game-breaking cheating on PC is 100% part of the experience, Blizzard is aware and yet, they cannot fix any of it. Do you really think they will waste any time on something minor like re-forge glitch on console? Nope.
The recipe idea is nice tho. Honestly, anything would be nice, anything at all. RNG is complete trash, unless you can alter it with re-forging.
Recommend putting this in a bug report. If confirmed, it should be the sort of thing they can fix. All so called random number generators are approximations of randomness and can be tweaked. I think it’s such a sensitivity in D3 due to it’s design leaning so heavily on chance.
it is not minor. We had players with near all primals in every slot on their characters after 48 hours of season start. The min/maxing from perfect primals creates a large performance issue between the cheaters and legit players. You show me a PC player who had 11 primals after 48 hours of season start…it’s never happened.
No. The only way that this can be fixed is if Blizzard goes with online saves for seasons on consoles. There are other issues with the console port too - using the mystic to re-roll a stat is fixed. There is no randomness like with the PC version of the game. Test it - do 20 re-rolls, quit without saving, then do it again. You’ll get the EXACT same 20 rolls as before. You can kinda reset the RNG on re-rolls by quitting the game and the RNG seed gets reset, not so on consoles. If the item has a crappy RNG seed, you’re screwed. I’ve done like 400 re-rolls on a very nice ancient HPS quiver in the past before I got 15% impale on it for my s6 impale build. I had 200 odd rolls before I even got an impale roll come up. I was far from impressed.
The game is broken in so many instances on consoles it isn’t funny and Blizzard doesn’t care one.single.bit.
The repeat in exact rolls after rolling back without saving is intended. They implemented it back in season 10 because, with the true rng that existed prior, the reforge exploiters could just reroll 1 item an infinite number of times until it became the exact primal they wanted. With the pre seeded setup, the reforge exploiters are forced to farm several items to attempt reforges on.
I’ll take your word for this, and I suspected it is so when I read it that it is for the reason I now see Exis has confirmed.
However, I didn’t find it clear that the OP is referring to this specific issue. Rather has possibly observed a different pattern.
I wrote to suggest he file it with Blizzard so that they can look into it. Unpacking it here on the forum is only going to risk unnecessary exposure of an exploit.
I know what you mean with rerolling offhand/skill. It’s a tough slot/affix to reroll with a large variety of possibilities being the cause.
240 rolls is my worst, and I’m happy when I do it in about 80. 400 is indeed painful. Other slots are easier with significantly less options in the pool of possibilities. Similarly, getting a sweet drop on an offhand is tough, let alone it being ancient.
I’m not so sure the seed being saved on the item influences the chance of being in a lucky or unlucky part (in context of your roll intention) of the RNG sequence for any given roll.
Nah. These exploits are so common knowledge now it isn’t funny, and have been for like at least 5 seasons. The damage has long been done. Blizzard has failed to fix it.
nah, it’s pretty clear in my eyes - he’s realised that the same RNG rolls over and over and over when quitting without saving, instead of being fully randomised every time.
I’ve had it happen several times in the past few seasons now - RNG
got massively worse for me in s18 and has consistently stayed bad ever since for pretty much everything. I’m currently p700 (HC) and have had 3 rama gifts drop. This is very bad, even by the past 2 seasons’ standards, which weren’t great! I’ve just spent a week hunting for deathwish for my twister wiz - a week full of t13 rifts and GRs etc. Nada. So, spent 650 odd DBs and finally got it from a rare 2 leg upgrade. What happens? The very next rift, it bloody drops from the RG. I swear the game’s AI knows exactly what it is doing and is just screwing with me. I had a HORROR run with my HC s6 impale DH getting dawn and the TP ammy - I had 8 duncraig ammy’s before a TP dropped. 8. So much for both having the same chance of dropping from the RNG pool wink wink.
I have simply seen far too much suspect and dodgy RNG in this game to believe that it’s “random”. I call BS. Massive BS. One does not have consistently bad RNG luck for 5+ years of constant play.
In one season I had my first one at 800 Paragon…this Season at 800 Paragon I had 30 of them. It’s random, its not bad or good RNG its just random.
You then say " I had 8 duncraig ammy’s before a TP dropped. 8. So much for both having the same chance of dropping from the RNG" but whilst they are the same “chance” it doesn’t mean you are going to get it before 8, otherwise that would not be random. I don’t know why you attribute RNG to have no randomness and expect certain results? You could have waited 50 other ammys to drop before a TP…heck the Necro this season needs a Haunted Visions ammy and there is a large pool of ammys thus getting one that is decent is extremely hard but I got my first one at paragon 300 but had coumtless TP’s even though the HV drop is the same chance, all random!
D3 is really bad for actually giving us what we want, we can have a full T16 and GR100 build done in 2 days…that is horrendous for a loot grinding game and is the reason people play D3 for 2 weeks, get the Season journey then scoot off as there is no gear to grind or loot for.
some people must be “lucky” lol. A week to get a deathwish in s22. A week to get dawn and TP ammy too. s21/20/19 were all nightmares to get dawn, hPS AND tp ammy - all of them took a week. Constant farming rifts/GRs/bloodshards and DBs. I guess group players must have considerably better RNG than solo players who probably get only 10% of the drop rate [that group players do] given Blizzard’s hatred of solo players.
that’s a good question. Some of the drop rate differentials will be cause META groups are more efficient and are farming more mats per hour than a solo player, so just by that alone, the numbers are better for them. Blizzard could easily fix this, but…
Not really but kind of? The groupies simply run more GR’s at speed and get more loot dropping thus have a bigger chance of getting what they want.
That said I’m solo this season and it didn’t take long to perfect my gear…3 weeks in and my gear is all Ancient/Primal and has the right rolls.
Me…mostly solo and a few 2 mans…drops are RNG thus standard stuff…I’m P1600 after 3 weeks and have gear I’m not really going to change now for the rest of the season…all Ancient, right rolls and nearly all augmented…only a primal with the right rolls will replace my gear and I’m not bothered about trying to get that.
Doesn’t need fixed really mate in terms of drops…groups are doing GR125’s in 2 mins…I’m doing GR115’s in 2-3 mins…but the cap at gear dropping is GR90 where you get the full amount of legs thus there a ton of builds that can do GR90’s in 2-3 mins and you are this competing with groups for the 12 or so legs that drop from a GR…so there is nothing to fix…after GR90 its just paragon gain rather than increased drops…in terms of the drops from a GR90 and a GR125 are the same in quantity etc.
Bounties sure groups can do these quicker but just open your game up to Public and I always get a 4 man group with strangers to do T16 bounties with…or just ignore bounties and grind GR’s and the gear comes…
My two primal dawns (one went primal second reforge and one dropped), hunters wrath, an perfect gloves have something say about luck lol.
I do swear this game reads something into what you need/don’t and has/have.
I played a lot last season and never got those two armor pieces, but this season boom exactly what I was looking for last season to finish the perfect build.
Some people are lucky I guess. When it takes me a damn week just to get an item drop for my build (and this is a consistent problem btw).
I can’t see myself doing that. I’m at least enjoying the DMO twister build with a very nice GR111 clear with 6 mins to spare @ p700. I’m pretty sure I can nail a GR115, but it’ll be close to the timer. True, I spent my first week of s22 in SC, doing the season journey, before switching to HC. But even then, I don’t see myself as being all ancient/primal with gear with the right rolls even accounting for that missed week. I’m not even close, and no augments.
