Massive stuttering/slideshow and occasionally 5-10 sec freeze

In GR100 with tonnes of enemies, i get insane 2 fps what feels like and occasionally the game will freeze up for 5-10 sec and resume in the graveyard.

5900x, 32GB ram and RTX 2080

Apologies, how do i edit this into a scrollable collumn?

I have reported this batch of errors to the support team with quite a few error logs from a new install on windows and on the game files, they are currently working on seeing what it is as far as I know. They couldn’t make heads or tails of it in my support ticket, so I have been told its been pushed upwards.

Out of curiosity what type of hard drive is the game installed on and what is the designation? (A:\ C:\)

It was on a MX500 2TB sata ssd. E:\

well that breaks the possibility it was hardware related lol I have mine on an NVMe. So its definitely an internal problem within the game

I did however start getting fewer crashes when I put it back to C:\ designation. For whatever reason some part of the application does NOT like it when its on certain other designations.

I found this, but not sure if it would fix our problem and not too keen on random dll’s from random users lol

it might for you, but i have been up and down this forum since the new year started trying to find a fix before I sent my files and such off to the support team. Nothing worked and I tried everything that sounded remotely like the freezing and crashing and even after a fresh wipe and install of windows and the game files it still happens. Even support said they dont know what it is or how to fix it.

This is the first season EVER I’ve encountered these issues. I have done everything under the sun to figure this out. De-installed/Re-installed both Blizzard app and game. Updated all mouse/keyboard/graphic and system drivers. At one point, I lowered the sound to 16-bit and that seemed to settle the freezes until I started doing GR100 with groups. Getting frustrated when the technical people have no clue why this is happening.

Try lowering the in game screen resolution.
I did all this other stuff and it didn’t help. The stuttering only happened with me on grp play when in same rift or zone.

In a group play , we always check that we only have 1 FB wiz and every other team members has 0 Area damage including the wiz. The only player with AD is the thrash killer assuming he needs AD to kill elites for progression.
We run 4 man GR 150 all the time with no problems . Occasional crash happened but no lag
Check you D3 game client settings , make sure its 64 bit

I have reported this problem to the technical support, have done everything in us.battle.net/support/en/article/82450 and then I contacted Apple technical support, which added a DNS Server in my computer for me after I told them that I am getting Error 1016. Yet, the problem still occurs. This problem of disconnections/freeze/rubber banding stopped a few years ago, and then I purchased a new and more powerful iMac in December, 2020. And this problem started to happen again about a month ago. I don’t know if Blizzard is even working on it.

You dont need to use the files others provide, just delete msvcp140.dll and vcruntime140.dll from x64 folder and main d3 folder and load game. Stops game loading old visual basic files and use the ones in windows directory instead. Works great for me no more lag/freezing and I have sound

If no user solutions work, the only way to play with sound and no faults is dual boot windows 7 or earlier windows 10 and disable it from updating.
