The extra progress orbs for killing an elite pack should be made a permanent feature, regardless of the Altar. It provides an extra incentive to wipe out the entire elite pack, instead of just the leader and moving on.
What would be even better is the complete removal of progress orbs. Kill enemies, get progress. Just give elite packs extra progress.
