Make an Arcade mode for D3

Since seasons in D3 is coming to an end soon, why not create an Arcade mode like Starcraft II and let players create content for everyone to play?

Give us a map editor or something.

Man I remember warcraft 3 spending 10x as much time in the world editor than playing the online game. Made two full campaigns and quite a few other maps.

I always thought an official map editor would be great for Diablo.

Sadly the blizzard that made war 3 is long gone and after the people behind DOTA went on to make their own successful competing game company after getting started with the world editor, there is no chance in hell such a nice thing will ever happen again.

Where is this argument coming from? They still provide ladders for D2, a game that’s twice the age of D3, why on earth would they retire D3?

Good idea!
They should have GG templates/built characters you can just pick to play. Like the Gauntlet game.
Just redo a leaderboard for it

This would be great. With it we can finally fix lagg issue and balance builds after that.

every season they could make new character templates with different backstories and unique items. have different kinds of power ups, all that stuff.

No because creating a map filled with insane densities of Uber Diablo will give a slight advantage for gaining xp. Paragon 20000 np.

Yes please. And full good rolled primals.

They said seasons will only go up to season 30 and then will be no more new content. Just recycling old stuff.

I thought why not let players generate our own content for D3 by giving us an arcade mode and map editor?

Cool idea. Adopt functional maps into the Greater Rift and Rift rotations — makes the most sense. Let the community be the map developers. How does this work with the online only mode? Online only builder? Use only existing assets? What if I wanted to introduce new ground textures, or custom program new features, like maps with lava that burns the player?

We’d only want Gauntlet style preset chars because the balance and itemization today still makes this game feel small. But i get where you are going with this suggestion.

there would need to be arcade style power ups. total balance revamp. might be easier to just make an entirely new game out of it instead of forcing D3 into a square hole.

I would totally play this game though! lol

I think they wouldn’t bother doing any of that but it’s perfectly possible at console version of D3 since it can be played offline.
However, map editor means assets will be at the leisure of the user and that should be separated from the original assets that encrypt and decrypt by server demands. That would increase the install size and any kind of slipping would allow a backdoor since some console versions can be emulated perfectly on PC now.

Good idea but I wouldn’t count on them wasting any additional time on Diablo 3 besides the expected Season theme work, common hotfixes for PTRs and usual patches inbetween.
I also asked them to create a market place of sorts akin to Steam market for content creators to sell their approved cosmetics at Diablo 4 in consoles. Yet, I have no hope for it to become a thing.

Screw map editor and all that. Let people change more than that, community driven balance changes will make this game last a while.

I’d sit down for a few days and prepare a package of balance changes, fully mathed out, if I knew there was a good chance for some of them to make it into the game.

I’d be up for more interesting challenges too. For example, balance the whole DH class for GR100, pick any 5 underused legendary items to completely revamp in your suggestions, ensure that Rain of Vengeance, Elemental Arrow and Chakram are viable at GR100 at 5,000 paragon. Count on LoN/LoD being downgraded to 50% damage per item and paragon capped at 5000 only honoring 1 vitality or main stat per point.

If the whole community worked on these things together, the journey to playing this revised version of Diablo 3 would be incredibly fun.
