Major nerfs to the Alter of rites

If I may give my feedback. There are some significant and impactful nerfs to the tree and to some extent I can understand why they were applied.

I would like Blizzard to reconsider finetuning the Shadow, Exodus, Reverence, Numb, Elegance and Father nodes.

Most of these nodes help the players survive the content they are playing. It’s not power creep. You still need to do enough damage to clear the content and farm efficiently.

Father, should still be available for speed farming lower GR’s sub 120.

Please remove the staff of herding from the requirements. This activity is not fun, challenging or enjoyable.

Hellforge Ember - I remember these being very rare. I had troubles finding them in quantities that allowed me to explore and upgrade my soul shards quickly. Perhaps improve the drop rates for these embers by a bit?

Thanks for reading.

If I recall I could completely upgrade one soul shard in about an hour.

The problem is not the ability to upgrade one. It is that the RNG on them is so great that getting one with the correct rolls you need requires a large amount of embers.

You’re right, but that was not the argument I replied to. Getting one ember ever 20 mins or so I would not consider rare. Getting a perfect soul shard, that’s another topic.

Perhaps. Just as an example however. On the PTR it took me 15 full upgrades to finally get one of the correct powers to roll on a shard of hatred. The first 12 all rolled ring of fire, not until the 13th try did I even get one with a different power to roll. When I finally did get the 15th one to roll the correct rank 3 power, it still had the wrong rank 1 and 2 rolls. 15x3 = 45 embers.

Given the example rate of 3 per hour (which I definitely did not get that many during my attempts) would take 15 hours just to get a shard with only one correct stat. However, I did not experience anywhere near that generous of a rate, more near to 45 mins per ember gained.

This rate is more true to my experience as it was roughly 30 hours (not counting the time to level up and gear to be able to run content quickly) before I finally had a shard with the correct 3rd power on it to use, and that was on the PTR where we had unlimited resources.

I certainly agree that the rate needs improvement.

Did they remove it entirely? As far as I have read from patch nodes, they just have removed the Power Pylon between the random Shrine effects. That’s just a slight nerf to balance out the power offered by Soulshards and nothing more. You still have random Shrine effects upon the consumption of potions, plus the Triune Circles and ridiculously strong effects the Soulshards.

Why do you want a diceroll Power Pylon on top of those? Do you think Soulshards, Triune circles and Shrine effects are not enough for speedfarming GR120? I didn’t quite get it, because I don’t see a major nerf at all. Some drastic change happened while I was sleeping?

My recollections are from season 25, things can very well have changed since then.

The only things I want are double Forgotten Souls instead of double Death Breath.

On the PTR the Hellforge Embers were reasonably common in Fissures, far more than in GRs. I at least found most of my Embers from Fissures.

From my 50 runs each testings:

T16 visions 3/50

1 min solo GR 100s 3/50

2 min solo 125 2/50

1 min 4 man 130 runs 8/50

5-8 min 4 man 150s 4/50

While the sample size was relatively small, group speed dropped more ember vs solo.

It does feel ember drop rate is lower than s25, where on my records, its recorded roughly 12/100 2 min GR 120 - 125s solo. Again the sample size was really small on PTR this time. Just sharing findings.

I disagree, I don’t think it should be too easy to unlock the altar and I actually enjoy farming ingredients for the staff of herding. This being said, as previously mentioned, increasing a bit the drop rate of the gibbering gemstone would probably be a good idea.

This is what Blizzards suggestion department looks like in action:

Exchange the shredder for a copier that prints “We’ve conducted a thorough investigation” and you’ve got the ticket system too!

Hahaha, Hi Dark, I did not know you lurked in these forums.

At what levels did you get the embers in? To my understanding, lower levels don’t give any drops at all and the deeper you go, the more drops you get.

That’s fine that you enjoy this activity, however I am trying to look at the bigger picture and from what I have seen many players do not enjoy this activity. So, I am arguing from “The greater good” point of view. To clarify, my intent is not to make completing the altar easier, it is to remove activities that are not enjoyable. Blizzard could replace it with something else that is both challenging and fun for many players.

“Power pylon has been removed from random Shrine effect.”

Ah ah ah, so perfect :joy:

The nerfs where bad to non season and if one of the season themes is bad its not going to loo k good at all.

The soul shards will help for season 30 tho but what if seasons 31 isnt as powerful, The altar isnt strong enough to carry though

They were randomized on my runs, most were deeper floor drops as you said. 1 was very distinctively remembered from a floor 1 drop.

Interesting, I am impressed with your level of detail. That floor one drop must have been good luck on your part  To my understanding, the deeper you go the more “drops” you get, even from trash mobs, they will drop legendaries!

I dont know, I thought that was the PTR Feedback Dept. Maybe its the desk next to it. Starting to envision a room full of those at bliz.
