I have played on my new character yesterday and today i login and am level one with zero progress and no gear??? How is this possible?
There is a scientific explanation, … you were playing on US realm yesterday, but EU realm today.

how is that possible. I am new to this. My lvl 13 char has all gear but no progress.
You have a lv26 wizard and lv 11 barb on US realm.
Must sure to select the region on the launcher everytime.
The lv13 char (on EU realm) must be created before you bought the game, I think.
After you bought the game, the progress reset to beginning, but you can change it on the Game Settings menu (under the “Resume Game” button).
You may need to do this if you run a Blizzard game with the game shortcut. In this case, the D3 shortcut.
From my experience I’ve found that if I run the Desktop App instead, it remembers the last Blizzard game I played and the Region I played on.

Yes, if it works normally. However, sometimes, patch of the launcher might forget the region setting, and reset to Americas (default?).

Exactly. It goes by many names. 
- Launcher
- Blizzard App
- Desktop App
- Battle․net App
- Blizzard Battle․net Desktop App (and more).
Edit: It just dawned on me that you may have misunderstood my previous post. We have a D3 shortcut and a “Launcher” shortcut to run the game. Using either one starts the “Launcher” first. My point was that using the “Launcher” shortcut might remember your Region. But, using the D3 shortcut does not always remember the last game or the last Region.
My apologies. I hadn’t considered that.
I live in the US, my native language is English, and I have the Desktop App set to automatically log me into the Americas Region.
However, if I’ve been playing on the Europe Region and quit a game, then come back later, the Desktop App still logs me in through the Americas Region, but the game is set to play on the Europe Region. (Where I left the game the last time I played).
I also specifically mentioned that others may have a different experience because I knew you or someone would bring it up. 
But, I thought they could give it a try.
