Every time i open the game i can get to main menu then my character wont load and about 3 minutes later i get lost connection error 1016 and it logs me off. this happened in s18 then randomly stopped but its back again and i used to be able to get it to work after 10 tries but now i cant and my internet is fine and stable its diablo
I am having the same error code issue 1016. Happens randomly it seems. Last few times has been either teleporting to a bounty or on lvl up. Getting beyond frustrated can’t even enjoy the game now.

This is a general connection issue, I would recommend the following steps:
Turn off the PC. Power Cycle the home network’s modem and router to refresh the connection to all devices on the network and to the Internet Service Provider. Steps on how to do this can be found Here.
Once the PC is back online flush the DNS cache using the commands Here.
If the issue continues we would want to try to run a WinMTR around the time of a disconnect or if possible capture it while the WinMTR is running. Keep the WinMTR to around 10 minutes. Post the results back here for review!

I checked our internal reporting for your ISP/Region and did not notice any issues. The winMTR test suggests the connection is working normally as well. This makes me wonder if there are any security software on the device that may be affecting the games ability to load/connect.
If you have any of the following software, please disable it temporarily
- Quality of Service
- Network “boosting”
- Connection Optimizer
It might also be good to temporarily uninstall any third party security software to help rule out software compatibility. Keep in mind that security programs tend to still run even while disabled so it may not work to just disable it.
