Longer Breaks Between Seasons?

I think it is a good idea to have a week and a half between seasons, especially for those try hard blasters out there to have a break, and for more inventory management.
Ending on a Tues and starting the next season that Friday leaves little time to take a breath fresh air outside, family time etc.

The current S34 date change is highly unprofessional and too short notice. I am heavily disappointed because I took a half day off to be able to start the season strong, but that is another issue.

What do you think about having over a week between seasons? Good? Bad? Why?

Open a window…

Jokes aside, I wonder if it isn’t best from now and on to announce the start and end beforehand and stick to it!

Also henceforth it would be wise to have the seasons of D4 and D3 separate to avoid any future mishaps.

With ample time to schedule time off work!
Lets say at least 2-3 weeks heads up.

Since the hame is in maintenance mode, it might be best to set the season dates all year!

Tbh in my opinion it should be stated when in the season presentation.

Season X will start [date1] and end [date2]

Yes, having some additional time for us users to plan, and the devs to plan season patches etc would be epic.

They tried this for a few seasons a long, long time ago. Most people were happy with the “End on Sunday, start on Friday” as opposed to having a longer break.

The vast majority of people are done with the season long before it ends. They are chomping at the bits to get the next one started. 5 days is more than enough to sort inventory.

I remember when we had more time between Season End and Season Start.
Of course, we also had PTR back then, too.

I agree that 5 days is more then enough for inventory sorting, but we’ve had a rough history of D3 launches over the years.
I think a few extra days to get patching and bugs sorted out might be a good thing.
As a blaster in the past, I would have appreciated a longer break between seasons.
I get it may or may not be for everyone, just my 2 cents.

What do they need to patch or bug fix? There is no new development which caused the issues in the past.

I get that, but that is in the extreme minority. The vast majority would rather have the 5 day break. If they run the game based on the extreme minority, we will have a constant fire storm similar to what we are having with them changing the start date for S34.

The transition between seasons takes some effort, while there isn’t development per say, there is man power needed.

Apparently they listened to you because now it’s the 31st which the vast majority of players do not want from all the forums I’ve visited. Personally I’m ticked off as D3 is one of the few games I enjoy playing season wise or at all.

You mean, the janitor hitting “end season button”, then 5 days later hitting “start season button”?

It’s maintenance mode. Everything is set up to start and end automatically on the times they set up. This is why we had blip 1. Whoever punched in the start/end times for S33 screwed up. Granted, after this they need to double check their calendar and make sure the times are where they want them, but this does not require adding an extra week in between every season going forward.

I can see the argument but personally, I’d prefer a shorter break between season and and new start.

Mail is going to sit in the mailbox for a while anyway, with enough time to sort non-season stash/inventory, even a few weeks into the season. No need to rush that before starting to play the new season.

I would appreciate knowing the season start and end dates (!) well in advance though. That would help with holiday planning.

This post was created 2 days after the announcement.
Changing things that quick with little notice is always not cool.
I do however like the idea of a longer gap between seasons, just my vote.

You want a 2025 breakdown of the seasons? Here goes nothing…

S34 start: Jan 31st
S34 end: Apr 27th
S35 start: May 2nd
S35 end: Aug 3rd
S36 start: Aug 8th
S36 end: Nov 9th
S37 start: Nov 14th
S37 end: Feb 15th 2026
S38 start Feb 20th 2026

Keep in mind these dates are approximate. I do not keep the calendar, I’m just handy to have. There are also variables in play, such as D4’s schedule. Four days is plenty of time, though.

If OP can’t step away from the pc for a break during an active season - maybe they have a bigger issue. Personally I don’t spend 24/7 on the game, I play a bit , go to work, spend time out with friends, sometimes don’t play for weeks. But I do only play seasonal, so if its down 2 weeks - I cant play it when I want to for that period.

Bad.

1 week is plenty since we already know what we’re getting. Maybe when they were introducing new stuff i’d say yes, but not anymore.

Announcing the season end should be at the very least 1 month before imo. Dev’s could also gauge the players and see if they even want the season to end or go on longer.

1 week is the perfect amount between season end to new season while we know what season is coming.

if that were the case i’d never touch this game ever again. I’d literally just burn the drive this game is stored and never ever ever even think about playing D3 ever again.

s34 needs to be at the very least 5 months, prefer 8 months.

I only play a few days of the season now but used to blast back when I was single and no kids. I do have a few of “those” people in my clan still and speak on their behalf.

1 month sounds great, gives time to coordinate stuff with clan members too along with our own personal schedules.

The original intent of seasons in the Diablo universe was to have them mimic the change of the seasons here in real life. The teams have done a reasonable job of that with a few noticeable exceptions. I see no reason to change that. Going forward, the model of 5 days between seasons has worked well. D4’s expansion threw a wrench in to complicate things, but we have assurances that the brass is going to be mindful of that in the future, so the recent mistakes (preprogramming the end date, cough) shouldn’t happen again. That doesn’t mean it won’t happen, though.
