Between the end of Season 35 and the start of Season 36, I replaced my Win 10 PC. I did not transfer old file to the new PC. I downloaded Battle.net and D3 from the Blizzard website the day before Season 36 started so didn’t have to download the update separately.
This morning when i started D3, I saw “uploading additional content” flash briefly while the game started.
I’m getting that again too. Nearly every time I start a new game session.
Specs: PC running Windows 10 on the Americas Region.
I don’t concern myself with it anymore. It doesn’t seem to affect gameplay. And it only flashes up for a fraction of a second before loading my list of Characters.
On my new PC, I get the same effect. On my Win 10 PC, it was a short break while loading D3 and a very long hold while loading the character. I bet there are a number of players still getting the long hold while loading their character that are just living with that long hold because nothing was done to fix the problem.
If there are any players still having to live with that long hold (loading additional content) while loading your character, please put a comment on this thread.
The long loading of additional content is likely to happen on traditional hard drives. On an SSD you’ll just see the short flash of downloading.
That’s my experience at least - I believe it was DTMAce who gave this explanation (maybe Perusoe too?).
I think that is a likely explanation. I am playing on an older machine with a standard HD and I get the long pause when loading the character.
I don’t think that it is a coincidence that it only started happening after the fiasco that was the end of S33.
Yeah. I didn’t think to mention in my “specs” above that my games are installed on an NVMe SSD.
AHHH! On the new PC, D3 is on an SSD.
