Let's talk juggernauts

It would be a great quality of life improvement if we could easily identify if a certain target we’re trying to kill with extreme prejudice is a juggernaut or not especially when running against the clock in a greater rift. Sure, the elite’s affixes are listed under their name at the top of the screen when we hover our cursor over one, but it’s difficult to pinpoint a specific one and read the text when our screen is full of targets of opportunity all trying to kill us. Let’s not forget the additional visual clutter on screen from our and our party’s skill animations and effects as well as the same directed at us from our target rich environment.

Nearly every elite monster affix has some sort of visual cue except juggernaut. My original thought was to make juggernauts a different color but that may not be helpful to our colorblind nephalem brethren in sanctuary. Maybe Blizzard can add an aura around them… because there’s not enough clutter already on screen. What do you think?

While on the subject, maybe juggernauts can also drop an additional progress orb for the extra time it often takes to kill them.

Mostly you have to check whenever you are suspicious and didn’t see any visually distinctive defensive affixes such as Shielding, Illusions, Missile Dampening dome and a Horde of rare minions.

What I suggest is changing the text color of some affixes, so we can identify the Elite the moment we hover our cursor over them very briefly. So before diving head on in a fight we take a simple glare at their name and we get the information we’d wanted. Uniquely different, unshared defensive affixes of Rare Elites and Blue packs can be colored for easy identification.
That means only giving different color codes to Juggernaut, Health Link, Avenger and Missile Dampening would solve the issue. Rest of the elite affixes would stay the same and appear in white text as usual.

Back in Diablo 2, we had immunities with their color code depending on the elemental type; each elemental related affix would appear in a different color. It shouldn’t be too hard to implement it in a lesser extent for a similar system in Diablo 3. Just highlight unique unshared defensive affixes of Elites, which there are four only.
That’s all. No need for going extra mile for adding visual effects, or act like Diablo 2 is all evil or “clunky” either.

That’d be good but it widely differs on practice, so no strong opinion.
Sometimes Juggernaut doesn’t spawn with any other problematic Elite affixes and you just corner them to burst them down like any other Rare Elite. Issue is when they pair an already problematic affix with another, to undermine your efforts about target priority and positioning. This other problematic Elite affix in the affix combination can be Teleport, Wormhole, Vortex or Reflects Damage, depending on your build.

If it looks hopeless, you supposed to skip such packs unless you see a high grade Pylon such as Power, Shield or Conduit, just ahead or nearby. Haven’t manage to test it fully but full stack Nephalem Glory also seem to help when you lure Juggernaut in the crowd, thanks to area damage procs.
All in all, I’d like an extra progress orb, or at least a Nephalem Glory orb from scoring a Juggernaut kill as well. Because there are lots of variables in play to consider an engage to a tough target when you’re tight on the time; also it simply rewards you for skipping them.

I think jugs were invented as a kind of obstacle or hindrance in greater rifts so they wouldn’t run so smooth as they tended to do at the time. Giving an extra reward for killing them would go against that philosophy.
