Lets make the solo leaderboards exclusive to solo players

by large portion do you mean the same 10 people that appear in all of these threads on this forum ?

True solo players are around 15% of the player base. Capped paragon likers are around 50%. These are not small numbers in any case.

Polls aren’t very objective, but nevertheless you can see many people want SSF in Diablo:

These are also numbers you just made up…

I am not part of the Blizzard team. These numbers are based on other things like statistics of SSF players in other aRPG games, polls etc…

So, statistics of people that aren’t playing Diablo III.

Yes, why not? It’s still relevant since it’s full aRPG player base. It’s not like I am counting mobile players and announcing a PC game…

Sensible on its own, but it would call for a separate “solo season” mode, because it literally makes you go antisocial, and Blizzard won’t ever commit to that.

“Splitting the community” is a non-issue as the solo modes (normal + hc) won’t have any multiplayer activity.

As you point out, a separate character is not enough on its own.

Im genuinely curious if you actually read what you post.

Poll adresses whether or not someone plays solo, not whether or not they support the existance of an extra, restrictive game mode.

I’d wager vast majority of those who play solo for whatever reason dont even know what you’re proposing because they dont care.

I run mostly solo, I do not really care what others are doing. I set my own goals and go for it. I do not need others to power level me, carry me, nor give me gear. I do not cheat nor use bots. :metal: :metal:

And, wasn’t it the case that a few people in SSF leagues were actually still grouping every once in awhile? Unless you have the game itself prevent such as easy exploit, there’s no real way to tell if a person is being honest. The honor system just doesn’t really work when it comes to competition.

I am in favor of this. The best way to do it in my opinion would be to just have “true solo” be an option for character creation, or rebirth at season start. That character would just be unable to group, and it’d have a separate paragon counter, stash, and leaderboard.

This is a backwards narrative that I still can’t believe is the general consensus. Its not about elitism and its not about delusions of grandeur. You think things are the way they should be, but they’re not, and that’s what this is about. Explain to me, how exactly are group speeds good for the solo board?!

Adding a new “true solo” mode would open up a whole new meta and give players interested in it official credit, while changing absolutely nothing for group players. You’re resorting to personal attacks because you are the snowflake and you can’t come up with any valid counter.

Are you seriously claiming that spamming group speeds doesn’t give an unimaginable advantage? Like I hinted above, that’s the whole reason people do it! And you’re calling OP “debunked nonsense”?!

I saw this BS almost any time I or somebody else used to make big design/balance posts, too. How about you get over your strawman dev bootlicking and give some actual input?

yea, I would pretty much claim that the advantage it gives is not unimaginable, quite the contrary, its easily quantifiable how little it is.

That’s just like, your opinion, man.

No. Poll addresses what type of play style one prefers - solo or group.

For years a handful of players have been asking for a solo self found game mode.

It is impossible for a true solo training athlete to find a spot in a football team.

That’s exactly what our aim is - Diablo to become a different game, a better game, a more played game.

Go ahead and quantify it for me then. Remember: true solo means no sharing gear and no grouping at all. And if people ever equalize by hitting cap only thanks to damage-oriented season themes on top of existing DBZ syndrome, that doesn’t count and you know it.

Solo/co-op videogame vs inherent team sport. That comparison is nonsense and you know it.

I think we would all prefer D4 in 2021, but I am thinking 2022 is more realistic given the likely time loss due to Covid.

They can easily take care of balance and adding powers in the next 9 months, that would leave at minimum 9 months to add some things like class set specific leaderboards, or even ssf before D4 releases. I think a lot of those features are perfect for the game as it heads off into permanent maintenance mode with minimal patching.

If that is implemented I would prefer to allow teaming in rifts and bounties but not GR.

We have to see what they announce at the virtual Blizzcon next year. If they push open beta, 2021 is more likely for a release.

Yes, and in D3 SSF would be even more fun than in PoE.

When we were kids we played 1v1 version of football with each player having to access only his midfield and not touch the ball with his hands even when goalkeeping. It was fun. The point is: don’t constraint games to a single format, especially such that are still evolving (like aRPGs).
