And get 800 paragons!
The only thing I keep seeing in this thread is “but this is the only thing solo players have”… to which, of course the reply is “You have the same ability to play with others that everyone else has”… the fact that you choose not to play in groups is not the fault of other players.
Just like you can choose not to use a follower… it doesn’t mean the rest of us have to.
Tbf, the same could be said for anyone wanting to play with followers. They can have followers if they simply choose to play solo or utilize the Asheara set. By choosing to play in groups and without the asheara set, then players in groups don’t have access to the followers, just as players opting for solo lose out on a massive amount of efficiency that they could’ve got by playing in groups.
Now with that said, I actually think dmkt’s idea would be neat, whereas followers are treated as players (as in they take up player slots).
- 1 Player game - Can have 3 followers active
- 2 player game - Can have 2 followers active (one follower for each player)
- 3 player game - Can have 1 follower active (only the party leader’s follower would be active)
- 4 player game - No followers are active (unless they utilize the Asheara’s set).
Then also have the followers gaining the ability to deal actual and noticable damage.
I agree, keep the 4 player limit, but why only for groups? If you are solo, you should be able to equip all 3 of your followers, giving you a 4 player group. Any combination of real players and followers to get to 4 should be allowed.
It took them 10 years to revamp the followers, I hope it does not take another 10 years
Yes. I suppose that could be appealing too — especially with dps followers.
Some other things to think about:
What happens to emanate in groups with followers, only the owner benefits, or whole party?
How do clears with followers appear on the leaderboard? Shows follower avatar and links to follower profile?
Only the owner benefits
Only count the number of actual people playing in the group, so if 2 people and 2 followers, they go on the 2 player leaderboard. 1 person with 3 followers goes on solo leaderboard.
Follower builds could appear on leaderboards I guess, but not sure it matters.
Next, we’ll act as supports for our followers!
Nah, that shouldn’t be possible unless followers can deal more damage than a well geared character, which I wouldn’t suggest for D3. Of course, that’s not taking followers + groups into consideration.
