This Gem is advertised as a way to bolster the LoN buff. The gem states that it only gives the buff if there are no set bonuses active, however the LoN is a set bonus. How is this gem supposed to bolster the effect? The gem’s effect is nothing compared to the LoN set bonus and would be completely worthless without being able to stack.
At lvl 99 LOD gem is the same a lon buff. you use either or. not both because it wont work.
At Rank 27. The Gem of Dreams states,
“While you have NO set bonuses equipped, every legendary item you have equipped increases your damage dealt by 105.00% and reduces your damage taken by 2%.”
Followed by “The bonus is doubled for Ancient Items.”

Does this mean Primals receive 5x, 3x, 2x, 0x, etc, on the damage addition and reduction?

Does this actually mean you are not able to have ANY set bonus equipped (dismissing the fact that the 13 slots drop to 11 as a result in the case of using LoN to receive the damage bonuses), meaning that you do not receive any buff to either damage or mitigation with a set equipped, such as the 2 piece weapon/offhand sets, which effectively result in the same 11 slots that LoN grants assuming they’re all ancient?
Assuming you use no set items and have 13 legendary (then replace the legendaries with all Ancients to double this at 750% It appears to be almost exactly the same damage addition (a 50% increase per Ancient slot to be exact or 25% per Legendary slot- which was not a part of the LoN set period).
If I take 3.75 x 27… the damage bonus is 101.25, but in game the tooltip states it’s 105.00%. As a result I’m assuming this means that it starts at level 0, and at level 27, it is calculated as 3.75% 28 times, which comes to exactly 105%.
This means that at level 99, it would be 3.75% * 100, coming to 375%. Or 750% if all slots are ancient. (With a flat 4% reduction per slot if ancient rather than the flat 2% Reduction per slot if legendary only. (52% and 26% reduction respectively if all 13 slots, with no mix/match between legendary and ancient, or 2 piece set for the people who over-analyze like I do.)
What happens if a Primal is thrown into the mix? Since they’re so much rarer, and reward 15 forgotten souls per melt, rather than 3 for Ancient and 1 for Legendary… is this a 5x multiplier or is there simply no multiplier for Primals? Meaning you lose 375% or 750% damage by using a primal in one slot.
A response I would really appreciate from a Developer would be addressing these two questions.
1.Is the wording exactly as stated, “While you have NO set bonus equipped, every legendary item you have equipped…”and if so that means that if you have ANY set bonus equipped. Even a Weapon/Offhand, you have effectively negated the bonus of the gem on every other slot by reducing it to 0% and 0%? 2x0% is… 0%.
I’m hoping this is simply a typo, and if so can it please be cleaned up.
The LoN bonus verbatim reads “While this is your only Item Set bonus every Ancient item you have equipped increases your damage by 750% and reduces your damage taken by 4%.
The difference in the wording between the Gem and the LoN bonus means that you have 11 slots (LoN) vs either 11 slots assuming a 2set weapon/offhand for example, in lieu of the 2 slots (ring/amulet) for LoN, or 0 slots that the Gem of Dreams applies to if you have a 2 piece set equipped.
I would greatly appreciate a response to clarify this as the 11 slot route makes complete sense and lines up perfectly (assuming all slots are doubled as Ancient).
I would appreciate even more an ingame tooltip update regarding this, as well as Primals question raised below.
- Is there an unlisted bonus for a primal, or is there no bonus for a primal? If there’s no bonus for a primal, we are then losing 375% or 750% and 26 or 52% per slot with a Primal in lieu of a Legendary or Ancient. That somehow seems either an oversight, or a hidden penalization that negates the uses of Primals entirely assuming there is no Primal Multiplier.

I don’t understand why it is so hard to understand how this gem works. It is self exploratory. Primals are maxed out ancients. Thats the reason they are called “primal Ancients”. The gem is clear as can be. If it says while no set bonus active then you can not wear the LON rings. You either wear the LON rings or you slot the LOD gem. And stop wishing for more power creep. 4man group are already clearing 150 as speed farms. 3man 150s are becoming more common. By the end of this season we will likely see our first solo 150 due to the LOD gem and season buff. We don’t need anymore buffs.
