I took screen shots of both that had happened
Some monsters can reflect projectile in random direction. If you get hit, you take full damage. It is not a bug.

Lo i found out the hard way a few times seems like spinners and sand dwellers
Again, this isn’t a bug. This is a known play mechanic. Next time, do some research.
