I am told the first 3 acts drop keys and the fourth drops the plans. I have 4 different keys and no plans.
Izual in act 4 drops the plans if my memory serves me right.
All 4 Acts drop Infernal Machines. Squirt, the vendor in Act 2 sells the plans for Hellfire ring and amulet, which you teach to Shen.
You may be thinking of the very old system of crafting the Infernal Machines. That’s no longer necessary. The machines now just drop directly from the Wardens (thus there are no more keys or infernal machine plans anymore).
You’re thinking of the Staff of Herding.
Thank You All for the info
Hm. IIrc there is a different Uber system fpr lvl 60 and lvl 70. The lvl 60 system can only be observed on a vanilla D3 (without RoS).
Isn’t that why Squirt still sells the old Hellfire ring recipe?
I still have the machine from the old key wardens 120 of them. I can still make the older stuff, but it is really worthless. They still work in the ROS part of the game. You can still get them but very hard. You get them when leveling up your character between 60 to 65 if you are lucky. They don’t drop all the time.
Looking at a D3 wiki, it seems like patch 2.3 was when both converted over to the current system together.
That seems to fit with what I remember. In my stash, I have a bunch of the level 60 Infernal Machines that I don’t remember actually crafting. (But don’t quote me on that.)
No, you can still get the level 60 materials in RoS. Well, not the materials, they directly drop Infernal Machines now, even for the level 60 ones you don’t have to craft them anymore.
You just need to be in exactly a level 60 torment game and they will drop the machines (or at least have a chance to). As soon as they hit level 61, they stop dropping the level 60 machines.
It’s easier in vanilla D3 since you are level capped at 60, but it’s still possible to get them in RoS.
I actually just farmed some a week or so ago.
The LV 60 versions of the keywardens do in fact still drop their organs unless that got changed in this patch. You can theoretically, with enough characters, get a LV 60 version of the Hellfire jewelery crafted.
I’ll have to try and do a T1+ keywarden farm at LV 60 to see if machines drop. It’d be nice to have both because the LV 60 ring is actually superior to the LV 70 one.
The Keywardens drop the Infernal Machines. The Ubers drop the organs.
But yeah, you can still make the Lvl60 Hellfire ring, it’s just tricky. (See Tinne’s post above).
Just a reminder, you still have to engage the Ubers in the Heretic’s Abode in New Tristram to get the mats before you can use the crafting plans.
It’s actually quite depressing how much of a non-event ubers have become. I just tried looking up the ubers guide on Maxroll and IcyVeins.
Unless I’ve missed anything, it’s only implied on Maxroll’s Hellfire Ammy/Ring section whilst Icy Veins has a bit more in their Hellfire Ammy/Ring section.
Good to know. Memory is fickle these days. Funny how I can remember the exact layout and look of my preschool but the more recent the event or information the harder it is for me to remember.
I’d love an EXP lock option in D3 so I could stop at LV 60 and farm things like that if I wanted to.
The big problem with this is how many characters did you have to make to get them? I might be wrong but you might have to be on T1 lvl too.
That is why I said it is really a waste of time and they are really useless too!!! Plus you are kinda in a rock and hard place too. You want kill them as fast as you can to get one, but try not to build your XP to fast too. LOL
??? You mean the machines. They don’t drop organs.
At one time they were very tough to do. You always had to have a Barb in there with you when you did them. The only thing they are good for today is to lvl a new character.
I think it’s minimum T1, but you can go higher if you want. I farmed them on T6.
You can also snapshot a game by having a friend with a level 60 character invite your level 70 character, then leave the game. That will lock the game to level 60.
I just did it manually, and relevelled to 60 once I hit 61, but if you have friends, you can do it easier that way.
LOL I don’t need friends I can do it with my 4 accounts in the family. I can really do by myself. I run one on my computer and the other one on my laptop.
On my Davey and BigRed accounts I run them a lot together. If I’m helping some body with a DH. I run two accounts that way we get twice as many drops to help them.
Yeah, like we farmed the ethereals. ![]()
