Key binding issue

Wondering for ideas and/or help on this. The mouse movent key. It’s annoying to have it attached to primary spell key ( at least for me) I have found myself numerous time trying to move out of something or away only to get stuck because it’s primary spell function is overriding it. I have died a few times because of this. Since I can’t unbind mouse any suggestions? Yes I already use force move on my spacebar

I use mouse wheel for force move. Much better than on the keyboard. Then rebind your space bar to force attack, like a normal person.

I think part of the problem is getting routine in playing. Years ago I often got into trouble when instead of attacking my hero would walk right into the monsters and get hammered.
In many - or most builds - I use a combination of force move (space) and force stand still (paragraph sign next to skill 1 key), so that when I attack with left mouse my hero doesn’t move. I’m not good enough to use scroll wheel to move… Furthermore usually the most important damage skills are often put on my right mouse click.

I guess it is just what you get used to. I use force stop on my spacebar and just move with my mouse. I have my main attack on left mouse button and strafe another attack on right mouse button. Probably just depends on the build though.

I bind force move to the space bar

Honest question, call me a smooth brain ape… why do i need a force move?

Well I got used to the following:
Potion bound to the 5 key
Force move bound to the R key

Therefore my left hand index finger is darn close to the potion or the force move.

When your standing in something that will kill you and the mouse just points to mobs to attack, time to force move out of there. You don’t use it often.

when i play i use my left thumb on space bar to move. then steer with the mouse

That works, I like to use space bar to stand still though, it’s just my way I got used to.

If you’re stood in something bad (e.g. fire, poison, etc) and you click left-mouse to move somewhere else, if the mouse pointer is over a mob your hero will try to attack the mob rather than move to the location the pointer’s at. If your hero’s default attack is a ranged one, this means that instead of moving out of the bad stuff killing them, they make an attack whilst continuing to stand in bad stuff. Force move means your hero goes where your mouse pointer is, regardless of whether there’s a mob underneath it or not.

A lot of people bind Force Move to Mouse Wheel Up and Mouse Wheel Down (yes, both of them) so that if they need to move their hero to where the mouse pointer is, they just scroll the mouse wheel up or down.

I would go nuts if I had to use a regular mouse in this game or any game. I have been using a trackball mouse for over 20 years. The force move I have never use in this game and that is over 10 yrs.

I only use 3 keys and the space-bar on the keyboard. I use the left click for movement and attack. The right click for what ever I need it for. The ball is for the the pointer. I never ever have to pickup the mouse and move it around.

The only key binding I have ever change or added. The space-bar for the force stand still. That is use for building momentum for the DH GoD build. Plus at any time if I have to rebuild momentum. I just hold down the space-bar as I’m moving.

It’s because they use it to practice some… ladytime skills…

I have it that way because just up feels wrong and sometimes only down (followed by lift up finger, move to top of wheel put finger down) feels clunky compared to one continuous flicky flick motion.

That is my tip as well and I think it is a great first step. That way you never move in when you want to attack or other way round. But left click for attack just feels so wrong for me anyway, growing up with Starcraft/Warcraft and then things like Dota my mind just feels like attack is done with right click and left for selecting things. Then after a while just start doing mouse wheel move.

Another option is to just change the skills you put on left click, not only the main attack one. I always bind something that doesn’t interact with mobs at all so it is almost like a force move and you don’t feel like you are changing your whole key setup. So something like your transformy skill (although I just have to put those on R personally), there are a bunch of skills that you can bind there but require you to just hold force stop while you click for it to act as something other than move.
