JTZZ - connection issue

Hi! any solution? Seeing that many people have this is really disappointing.

I feel ripped off for buying this game…

Hi JTZZ,

The thread you posted in earlier was several months old and that player had a problem with their Internet Service Provider. Your problem may be entirely different. To check this, you want to create a WinMTR test which catches a disconnection. You want to restart the test every 10-15 minutes until you catch one of these problems. Once you’ve caught one red handed, run the test for about 5 more minutes. This will let us look for problems between your house and our servers which may cause this.

If you have problems with posting it due to a link error, go ahead and copy paste this into your next post, and replace “WinMTR goes here” with your test.

WinMTR v0.92 GPL V2 by Appnor MSP - Fully Managed Hosting & Cloud Provider

Two test Firts aprx 15 minutes - Second 6 minutes.
Mi PC: Ryzen 5 3600
GPU: RX 570 8gb
Ram: 16 gb
SSD: 240 gb

The micro stuttering is present in places where there is no video load like the town or empty halls.

JTZZ,

Sorry for the delay, I didn’t see your reply until just now. I checked those connection tests and they look overall fine. Is it just microstuttering? Do you see high latency in game (hover over the computer monitor icon on your UI - it’ll have a green, yellow, or red vertical bar next to it. How high is the latency when this is happening?) Otherwise, do your FPS drop or anything like that?

There is some possible packet loss in the third test which might cause it as well. With these tests, which ones were you having the issue with?

Hi! the latency in the game is about 115 ms on average, I tried to connect manually to a single server like the US or Brazil but the latency is maintained. Now, when I have the micro stuttering the fps do not go down, I have vsync activated by my monitor that is only 60 hz and I also tried to deactivate the vsync I still have the problem and I even have cuts or scratches for the refreshment. In the 2 tests submitted I had the same problem I hope you can help me.

Hey there JTZZ,

It looks like average latency for the ISP you’re using is ~133 so I’m thinking that whatever our problem here is may not be related to the latency itself. I do see a small bit of packet loss in the winMTR on some of the peer networks between your ISP and our servers, but I’m not confident this is a network issue.

Lets go ahead and grab a DxDiag so we can further investigate the problem. Here are the instructions:

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Type DxDiag and press Enter.
  3. In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
  4. Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save
  5. Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post, and put four Tilde (~) marks above the DXDiag. It’ll look like this:

If you have issues pasting here, please use Pastebin and post the link (ex: Pastebin (dot) com/123456).

Thanks for providing the requested file! These do help us greatly in identifying the source of issues like these.

Before we dig too deep into this, I noticed multiple users connecting in the local area. If you have any room mates or family members that also play the game could we check with them to see if they are also having this same issue? This can help further verify if the issue is related to the specific device vs the network itself.

As for device troubleshooting I’d suggest using DDU to uninstall the old graphics drivers then reinstall a fresh copy from the AMD website. Once that’s done please also reset the game settings.

Let us know how it goes!

My brother also plays Diablo but he doesn’t have this problem even with a lower-end PC than mine, he plays at a lower resolution but he doesn’t have this stuttering problem, now in terms of reinstalling the AMD drivers, before posting Here I did practically everything in terms of drivers it refers to how to install previous versions with the DDU to test different configuration with both the driver and the game configuration (Lowering the quality of graphics, running in 32 bits, resetting default settings, etc.) and nothing It works, now if I have noticed that by configuring the game in window mode (full screen) the stuttering is smaller but still present. Thanks for your help so far.

JTZZ,

Okay, based on those tests, it doesn’t seem to be connection related, and you already did most of the things I would recommend for drivers. I wonder if your hardware is doing something strange. You can try resetting the video driver settings and then immediately resetting the game settings in case they are fighting eachother. Other than that - are you overclocking anything on your PC? If so, disable the overclocking - it could cause the hardware to become unstable, causing these jitters.

If that doesn’t work it’s likely overheating. Grab hwmonitor and play a game until it crashes. Once it does, check the “max” column of your test for CPU/GPU overheating. If those are getting too hot, clean the PC and take it to a PC tech if that doesn’t fix the overheating - that’d probably mean some of the heat hardware needs maintenance or replacement.

If you don’t see anything, let’s snag some screenshots:

  1. Maximize the HWMonitor window and expand all the nodes on the left
  2. Scroll all the way up
  3. Take a screenshot with the Print Screen (prtscn) key
  4. Open up the program Paint and press ctrl+v to paste in the test
  5. Crop the screen if you want to only show the test, then save it as Test1.JPG
  6. Scroll all the way down, then repeat steps 3-5.
  7. Upload them somewhere like imgur and link us to the results. We’ll use those to look for more options.

If you have link errors, copy the code below, then copy/paste your link between two ` marks, it’ll break the link and let you post it. You can just copy paste everything in the box below and replace “Link goes here” with your link.

Hi!

245/5000

Sorry for the delay, here are the links to the images. By the way, I don’t have any OC enabled all my settings are default. I re-established the GPU factory settings as well as those of the games, but the problem is still present.

Hey again,

The temperatures look fine. Though I did want to confirm one thing. Your brother is on the same home network correct?

I also wanted to check on the following items:

  • Does the issue happen in a specific display mode? Full Screen, Windowed (Full Screen), Windowed, etc
  • Have we tried setting the “Max Background” and “Max Foreground” values to something different? For example setting them both to 70ish which is a tad higher than the monitor’s refresh rate
  • Does “Vertical Sync” change the behavior at all?
  • Does lowering the “Quality” change the behavior at all?

Let us know. Thanks!

Hey!

Answering your questions,

1.- This problem occurs more frequently when I run the games in full screen mode, with the other 2 modes it occurs but less frequently.

2.- Setting both parameters equal to 70 I have a higher stutter but it is because I think that I am configuring at a higher frequency than my monitor, now configuring both parameters at 60 the stuttering is still present but it is difficult to distinguish because I have as a kind of cuts on the screen, I don’t know, it doesn’t sync it like with the activated V- Sync which is much more fluid the game.

3.- Regarding the v-sync, I have noticed that with the default values, v-sync: off
Max Background: 150
Max Foreground: 8.
This problem seems to “disappear” and I say “disappear” because it is difficult to distinguish by the cuts that appear by the refreshment of the screen, but I have hardly noticed microstuttering.

4.- The problem is present in all the video settings, I have performed all the tests with different resolutions and it is still present.

Additional data, the delay in my response is because your previous comment you mentioned something to me about whether my cpu was overclocked, well check my configuration and how I responded that time my configuration is factory default, but I was still doubting if it was the cpu that overclocked itself so I modified the base frequency my cpu, adjust some voltages, perform the tests but nothing still has the problem …

I thank you in advance for your help by this means but at this moment I think it is a bit more game problem than any configuration you may have. I have done all the tests that you asked me additionally to perform some on my own, I have even tried about 10 different versions of my video driver to see if I could find the problem there but without any successful results, I have even thought that the ram did I have tried something wrong just having a ram memory activated but nothing is successful on this side, I have this problem exclusively with this game, the truth is a shame, I follow this game since Diablo 2 and it is pitiful what happens.

Hey JTZZ,

I get how this can be frustrating especially after all the troubleshooting you have done. As you mentioned, your brother doesn’t have a problem on his PC which seems to point to some kind of problem with your PC. Just to clarify, you are both playing in the same house on the same network?

If so, I’d suggest closing all other programs on your PC so we can try to narrow down this problem. You may also want to keep an eye on the Resource Monitor to see if anything is hitting 100%.

If this persists and you can’t pinpoint what the problem is, I’d recommend creating a support ticket and include your MSinfo so we can take a closer look at the system. Make sure to list the steps you have tried or link to this forum thread so there isn’t any confusion.

A post was split to a new topic: Eridani - Stuttering

JTZZ,

Wanted to add one more thing here. I rechecked your imgur links and they appear to have nearly no PC activity at all. Can you re run the test while actually playing the game at high settings until you see a couple minutes of stuttering? Since this appears to have been run at idle the information wasn’t super useful.

Hey!

Ok, add link.
