Personally i never played PD2 or Path of Diablo before so i tryed PD2 for a week…
GOD its awfull
First the nerfs they are so dumb you cant even hope to get over 3k hp… They balanced the game so some spec were not op but made new op. All they did is transfer the power from pally to sin for real. Nerfing Battle order is the worst idea they did. Smiter are literaly useless.
Second the customized cube and maping system … so in thier view after nerfing everything they added harder content ??? like most player cant even farm baal in hell and they push a maping system
Lastly i was against charm inventory comming to D2R and seriously its the best part of PD2 and i changed my mind it should come to D2R its just way better.
For balance i hope dev dont take that route all it does is changing the op spec to an other one. We like diablo 2 how it is now and the specs it has now maybe if you only buff spec that arnt playable it could work. But seriously Nerfing is a verry verry bad idea.
As someone who would like to see balance changes (probably after release) I do agree that the balance changes should ONLY focus on buffs for, at least, the start. The last thing I want to do is take away someone’s favorite build for the sake of “equalizing” everything. I would just like abilities that, truthfully, serve no real purpose in the game to be addressed and buffed.
Not sure on this… as a Necro the game is a bit too easy right now. Giving the AoE cleave to the skeletons was a bit over the top. On the Necro side I do LOVE the Curse Mastery skill since it allowed you to stack curses which was nice (every 10 = 1 additional curse)
I tried to play the PD2, but seriously as a Barbarian player i can not accept that freeking meele spalsh damage. Like it buffs the BB as hell, but still i feel like i’m with some cheetengine. So eventough it looks way nicer as the actual LOD with the glider, i came back to the OG D2LOD.
I just gave Pd2 a shot as well as a dry run with no help whatsoever… I did one on current LOD ladder and fell into the trap of going to get the established player to “help” here and there, mostly with gold lol.
Ive lasted under a week, some changes are good, I dont mind the loot filter, bigger stash (personal stash is a bit much with the charm inventory), but then theres alot more I do not like and Im back to playing LOD, this time single player with Plugy to try that out.
Pd2 is perfect for the players who want it easy and everything spoonfed to them. Should D2r take a few things from that mod? Sure… But only a few!
People must realize that PD2 is really popular as of now. I don’t like it, but I understand that so many people enjoy it because it gives some fun rework and a nice upscale, which the developer is selfish enough to not share as-is without his mod (everything is closed source anyway).
But anyway let’s face it :
it will NEVER be popular or even a thing in Diablo 2 : Resurrected since the developer himself said he has no intention of porting PD2 over to resurrected, given that he won’t be able to run (illegally, in closed source, as he’s doing right now) a battle.net server emulator. He has no interest in providing a single-player mod. And by staying closed source he clearly doesn’t care about the community longevity. Mainly keeping competitors like Path of Diablo away I would guess. Path of Diablo’s developer also expressed the exact same thoughts by the way.
The corruption mechanic simply achieves a probability multiplication once again, making what the best items would be almost impossible to get. Clearly a gacha-game like mechanic that nobody should ever want. There are already too many things to strive for in the original game, and anyone who thinks vanilla D2LOD is “too vanilla” clearly never played the game with a botless, good economy.
The balance is , as already stated above, totally TERRIBLE. Furthermore, if you like PvP, you can already skip this mod entirely : the pvp is broken.
You can’t enjoy many builds that were viable in the original D2LOD as they are now nerfed.
People who spent all their time on PD2 since its release no longer seem to know their D2LOD. I swear I know people who forgot that spirit gave +2 to all skills.
Melee splash on melee weapons I think should translate to D2R.
This concept isn’t just a D2 thing, its an issue in a lot of ARPGs.
Ranged vs Melee
Its hard to balance a playstyle that can kite/ranged vs a melee character who must be in the frontlines.
Melee splash I feel is the answer in Diablo II. Other ARPGs have come up with there own forms of balancing melee vs ranged but ya, I truly think melee splash on melee weapons should translate to D2R.
Think about it this way:
You can make a frozen orb sorc, hammerdin, wind druid (heavy AoEs)
or
You can make a zealot paladin, werewolf druid, frenzy barb
Killing one enemy at a time in a game where drop rates are 1:1,000,000 is gonna feel bad on a lot of levels:
1.) The playstyle of clicking each enemy to clear 1 pack vs casting 1-2 spells to clear a pack. Carpal Tunnel yikes
2.) Finding loot is relative to clear speed. If you are killing 1 monster at a time vs AoEing, you are at a huge disadvantage.
Melee splash on melee weapons is a great idea, in my opinion.
Why you even bothered by playing some mod? There only 3-4k people on their servers, thats very little, if it was at least 20% cool as original D2 there will be much more players there.
I played PD2 for about 2 minutes, just long enough to fire up the game, start a character and go to the Blood Moor. When I saw that melee weapons do splash damage, I quit the game and uninstalled.
I can’t speak for others but this upscaling is why I am playing the mod currently. As I stated above the Necro (my fav char) is just ridiculous right now but I am simply “passing time” with D2 waiting for D2R. Many of us, I assume, have that “kill time” game and that is what Diablo is for me currently
clearly misunderstood that your reply is off balance in its self; lol but truly you never played a real melee character. lots of clicking and tele can just be held to move. No you cant tele wolf you cant hold fight with aura on pally you should stick to pd2 you wont last with real players
thats you. many more would gladly have a charm system, having the possibily of 100% charms in your inventory is sooo trash, cant believe they made this game design from the beginning.
either just limit the charms to 40% and keep the inventory as it is, or limit charms to 40% and increase the current inventory a bit
Why? Dont like it, dont keep that many charms… Dont tell people how to play! Simple as that.
D2 is brilliant in that way where, there are a million ways to play it, find what works for you.
good thing about PD2 is not everyone runs around with same gear on every character, they did a great job in nerfing the blatant op runewards that are BIS for every class.
No, I do not like that. Nobody should touch my beloved Enigma, it should stay as it is!
That’s what Diablo 2 was about, that with a lot of effort you had the possibility to become damn strong and overpowered. This nerfing politics that comes more and more to bear nowadays because everyone is crying around gets on my nerves.
Let’s keep Diablo 2 at its core as it was before for all loyal fans. Happy to make live of quality adjustments like stacking items and so long but not more.
All those who don’t want that are welcome to play on future mods like Project Diablo 2 (Resurrected), Diablo3 or Diablo 4.
you are litterly telling others how to play aswell.
people like to give the idea of you having a choice if you want to have more space or more power. the simple answer is that power always win over space and its just an illusion that you have a choice. if you dont chose power you will always be at an disadvantage.
