Item confusion..... Need clarification.... Confused

This game is becoming a bit annoying…

A whole bunch of things in game that are not fully explained or made clear to investors (us, the players) and it’s a real turn off…

In game, you get items and each items has different stats attached to it when you view it (i.e., extra life, extra armor, extra speed, legendary bonuses) and each of those additions appear but, they all have a little diamond located to the left of them and sometimes the diamond is colored-in and sometimes it is not colored in…

What the heck does this mean??? Very confusing and frustrating… Does this mean something??? Of course, there is no clear in game explanation… They only clearly explain how to spend more money on stuff… No one gets that wrong…

Can someone explain or direct me to a source of info that clearly explains why some item stats have colored in diamonds to the of the stat listing when viewing the item??? The diamonds are located to the left of each individual primary and secondary item stat and is sometimes colored-in orange and sometimes it is not colored-in… Please explain…

When it comes to the normal affixes, primary and secondary, the diamond next to them simply indicates whether it’s calculated into the sheet damage/toughness/recovery. Dark diamond means the affixes are calculated into the sheet values, orange means they’re not.

Sheet values???

Do you mean “stacks on top of” or???

What do you mean “sheet values”???

Can you please be a bit more clear??? I have no idea what you mean and I am still confused…

I just want a more clear explanation… Please translate what you are saying or say it in more detail…

Orange border, black centre = can be extracted into Kanai’s Cube, hasn’t been
Orange border, yellow centre = can be extracted into Kanai’s Cube, has been
Solid orange = cannot be extracted into Kanai’s Cube

Perusoe has a graphic that shows this that he posts quite often…

Damage sheet is what kind of main stat your character is using: strenght, dexterity or intelligence, toughness and recovery. These are all in your inventory window on the left.

Thanks Metoerblade…

That’s the answer I was looking for…

Everyone else seems to be answering a different question…

Excellent my man…

My main concern was that some of the stuff shown would not actually be active due to not being colored-in but, I understand now…

Thanks, bro…

Whaaaaaat? Wow, that’s useful. I’d never caught on to that one.

This allows you to look at Legendary items your current Character cannot equip and quickly tell if it’s already been extracted for an alternate Character to use or not.

This is the chart that Meteorblade linked to, above. (Thanks, MB)

D3꞉RoS - Checking Legendary Power Bullets

Open bullet = Power has not been extracted.
Solid yellow bullet = Power has been extracted.
Solid orange bullet = Power cannot be extracted.

Well, you were asking about the diamonds next to all affixes, including primary and secondary. I answered that. Had you specified that you meant legendary affixes only, I would’ve answered to that.

Non-legendary affixes always have grey diamonds next to them.
Only legendary affixes can have different colours.

Really?

I’m seeing both grey and orange diamonds next to primary affixes.

Hopefully this graphic will help clarify the issue. Orange diamonds have slightly different meaning depending on whether it marks a normal property or legendary power.

When you place your cursor over a new item, it will compare it to your equipped item, and give you a rough estimate on whether the new one is an upgrade or not. It doesn’t factor all the item properties in the calculation, though. That is where the diamonds come in.

Basically, the properties marked with a gray diamond are used to calculate the stat changes, while those marked with orange diamonds (including the legendary power) are not used in the calculations. So properties like resource or cooldown reductions, area damage, etc. are not factored into whether the new item is better or worse than your equipped item.

For Legendary powers, the diamond also has an additional meaning.

You got some great explanations above on the diamonds. This comment about money though is confusing.

There is no way to buy anything in Diablo 3 with money.

However, if you have general questions about the game there is a Game Guide

Nice, informative image, TimberWolf.

I never understood why this feature was not included in the Game Guide, nor did it appear in the Patch Notes when it was introduced.
I found out from reading PTR Feedback around the time the Cube was added 5 or 6 years ago.

It came long after the cube was added. I don’t recall it being in the patch notes though. It was added based on tons of player feedback saying they really wished they knew what was already cubed so they did not have to check constantly when sorting items.

It was not very long after. Maybe 2016. I think Cube came Aug 2015
Of course my memory isn’t what it used to be and I don’t have access to the source post.
I do recall it being a Blue post in PTR, just not which one.

thank you sir
