It’s time to decide. Best / Worst Class in D3

hello,

With D3 at the climax and D4 on the way I wanted to know

What is your all time favorite D3 class and please please give me ALL THE REASONS. I want walls of text please. Convince me to prefer your favorite!

If anyone wants to make a poll for this on some website and link it here please do.

I am unsure of my answer at the moment but I’ll chime in when I am more certain.

Best class is my favorite class.

The worst class is your favorite class.

What is machine gun DH (is that the spell that you channel?)

Also do you mean the new nats set?

Don’t know about new sets. I’m never playing D3 again because it’s all about speed.

Tempest Rush Monk with Sweeping Wind is my favorite. WD was a total waste.

Crusader is my favourite class in D3.

The aethetic is great. A mighty warrior clad in heavy armour, a giant shield in one hand, a 2 handed weapon in the other. Smashing demons with their weapon, shield and magic combined.

With skills feeling weighty and impactful. Smashing things with Shield Smash, crashing into stuff with Falling Sword, exploding with Condemn, charging through things with Steed Charge. (Screw Heaven’s Fury though I hate that skill so much and it’s dumb AI that prefers targeting some random pleb enemy 47 miles away rather than the boss I’m wailing on and cast the damn spell on)

My least favourite class would have to be Necromancer.

Which is ironic given I typically love necromancer classes. But I just dislike so much about the design of D3’s Necromancer.

Being able to equip cool scythes is great! Only to never actually use it as a weapon… (Even Grim Scythe just conjures up a scythe to slash with)

Curses are cool… But underwhelming.

Summons! Except they don’t deal damage… (Besides Skeleton Mage)

Corpses are an awkward mechanic. Not only do they look kind of strange and out of place (Especially when things like you kill a ghost and it leaves a corpse? Wut?) but they’re terrible when fighting bosses because well… Things aren’t dying when it’s 1v1 against a boss (Leading to reliance on various things like CD’s that can provide corpses to use like LotD).

Best class - the one you like the most
Worst class - the one you like the least

Totally subjective to each individual.

Yupp.

Personally DH is by far my favorite, Crusader and Necro share last place.

My fav class fantasy wise is barbarian but in terms of game play DH ended up being the character I spent the most time on.

Necro is by far my least favorite, never was a fan in D2. Only remember people always talking about summoning builds, which crapped out without a really expensive build. Then they were just made grossly OP in D3 to boost sales.

Best class was Barbarian, worst class…Crusader’? maybe WD.

Favorite was vanilla Archon Wiz, where you could stay in Archon form aslong as you killed stuff.

Least favorite, probably some WD build… never liked that class.

best: DH/WD because I like ranged/pet classes.
worst: Barb because I do not like melee classes.

It is very subjective depending on what your rating on.

Really enjoy speed bounties on a Witchdoctor or Monk with the additions in the last few seasons.
If it getting to what GR clear, Wizard.
Like the idea of Crusader and Necro, but in practice they are my bottom of the list for enjoyment and clears.

and in a different post you claimed you weren’t a troll
Why should anyone try to convince you to play something you hate that’s just stupid and will only make you hate the game more

They’re all bad. D3 stinks. Never touched it. (ignore my 150 clear this season)

Would rather say personal favourite/least favourite than best/worst but here we go:

Favourite:
Necro. I love the theme so was always going to give it a good go. If I had to choose between throwing a spear at someone or throwing a piece of a corpse I would always go with corpsey man. But the play as well, bone spear is my favourite build of all time. It’s just a fun way of grouping up enemies (swish swish swish scythe all of them) till your CoE cycle, stun, blink away and pewpewpew. I know it isn’t the only build like this but it is just fun to me. It just feels good.

Really like the LoD mages build for T16, it might not be the fastest out there but builds like GoD and others where just basically run through aren’t as fun as the few little clicks and things mages build needs.

LoD Poison Scythe is also great. Again, swish swish swish chop them down feels satisfying. Somehow.

And with Trag’s being good now I am hoping to have another great build to play.

Least favourite:
Crusader. I just really don’t get any of it. I like the look though but that is it. I have tried a few of the builds (Invoker, AoV, Hammer thingy, sure there was one more) and not a single one was fun for anything close to an extended period of time. Invoker was nice because it was different and I played it after a long time of not playing, then it started feeling like just casting defensive buffs and being a punching bag. Hammer thingy, meh ok not awful but sure. That sweep slashy thing, that was fine but got boring quickly. AoV, that is not bad at all. I got bored with it as speed build really quickly and never got to pushing with it so maybe that is my problem.

The class felt like it was a constant damn struggle for CDR and resources. It always felt like how it feels when your build is good but not quite there yet.

Ranking the rest in descending order:
Barbarian - First class I played on release day, first class I played in adventure mode, first class I had a proper build set up with. First class I played when I actually listened to people and had a speed build instead of just slow pushing style. First class I had what would be considered a good set of gear going. First class I played after an almost 3 year period of not even opening the game. Also first class I actually pushed with, got my first 100 with it. Whirlwind is a nice brain dead speed build and really fun push one, Frenzy feels really cool (first 100 was with it), IK is a nice starter build and the hammer smash is cool, MotE is also a nice starter one because it is fun for a while and just so silly with In-Geom. Haven’t played the new Raekor’s but my first ever RoS character was a slapped together Raekor-ish thing (I know I had one legendary in there somewhere, maybe 3?) back in 2015 I believe where I used charge to jump into a bunch of enemies and boulder toss. There is a lot of nostalgia because it was the first character I played decently and that I used when I was learning how the game actually works.

Demon Hunter - Bow classes are always cool. GoD is nice, spin to win is both boring and good. UE is one of the first builds I ever played back when it was the Elemental Arrow one, Impale feels very different from other builds in the game. It is real close between DH and Barb for me, mostly nostalgia about what I did first with which that decides.

Wizard - Ok actually generally I don’t like them that much. I can’t stand Archon builds, they feel so damn clunky. I tried Firebird’s after the rework and ugh, just no please stop this. What are the other two even? LoD Frozen Orb is cool but feels like something you play before your gear is set up. I should try Typhon though, haven’t played it much. Tal’s. Well years ago I quite enjoyed it, mostly because it felt a bit more engaging than the normal with having to use all elements and everything, I love the concept. But it was boring as hell. Now after the rework I am finding it hard to choose between it and my Necro the last few weeks.

Witch Doctor - Really cool theme. Like that it is a bit more silly and it is a great idea for a pet type class. I think it was the second class I played and of all the classes if you just watch someone play (not like RoS speed blasting I mean) and they show you different spells it will probably look the most entertaining. Zombie dogs, Zombie bears, little fetish men with blow darts! You can throw a jar of spiders at people, come on that is just great. Bats, toads, pirranado! They just seem so fun. I don’t even remember what the sets do though, other than Mundunugunug and Arachyr (And those also just like o you use this skill to kill stuff and not much else). I really need to play one next season because this class is one of those “Just never got into it” cases and not because I think they are bad

Monk - Uuuuugggghhhhh I can’t. Yeah the idea is cool, holy martial arts man jumping around and punching (ha) and stuff. But if it wasn’t for Inna’s it would be below Crusader for me. I just seriously don’t get this class. Ulianna is fun for a while, the idea of “marking” enemies and then they all explode is fun but gets boring quickly for me although I would have liked to do a proper push with it. The rest of the sets, with Witch Doctor I have known what they do and just forgot, with Monk I honestly have no idea because I forgot as soon as I didn’t have it in my inventory/stash anymore. LoD WoL sounds really cool and looks good but just doesn’t feel that great to me. Inna’s had the SSS type explosion idea which was nice but even then if it wasn’t so super strong in season 24-25 I probably wouldn’t have played it much. I am not even ashamed to say I was just using my season 25 monk because I didn’t care about pushing with it at all, I solely played it for the fact that I could do speeds like 15 levels higher than my Barb. In fact I could have gone higher and did like 5 minute rifts to level gems but that would have meant my personal highest GR would have been with a damn Monk.

And that is my wall of text.

Grim Scythe actually does use the scythe. It only conjures up a scythe if you pick a rune that does that.

But I agree, there’s not many builds that are actually “melee”. Though I do remember playing with death nova/grim scythe/skeletal mage a few years ago, it was quite strong.

It doesn’t. No rune causes you to actually use your equipped weapon.

It always conjures up a sycthe to swing instead (Which makes some sense because otherwise it wouldn’t be a “Grim Scythe” if you’re swinging a mace or a sword around)

The only rune that even moves your weapon from the sheathe is ironically Dual Scythes… But not because it’s being swung, it’s merely one of those cases of the disappearing weapons that many D3 skills have.
