I recently bought a physical copy of Diablo three, and have been struggling to get the game to play properly. Animations are delayed, my character is rubber banding, and I’ve had to retread dungeons when my connection to the server drops.
Anything to be done about this? The game is janky and honestly painful to try and play. I would like to at least play through the campaign, but unless there is some setting I can change or easy fix I’ll be forced to drop this game.
You need to fix your internet connection. Start from your end. Are you wireless or wired? What kind of broadband do you have? What is the latency in game? Did you run a WinMTR?
Have you read this: Common Connection and Latency Issues

Well, drat. My ISP is satellite, and broadband is a myth here.
Going down the list for the sake of posterity. Wireless but I can switch to wired, Hughesnet(Spits in disgust), high and highly variable, and no.
Welp, lost another game to the always online plague.
Unfortunately, satellite is not good for online games. While throughput (how fast you can download or upload) is usually fine, games rely on latency, and satellite has terrible latency, mainly because the signal has to travel all the way up to the satellite, then all the way back down before it even enters the internet. You are usually adding a few hundred milliseconds of latency just from that one step.
in D2 lag was part of the battlefield in D3 w/ decent cable it is a more rare occurrence . still a 10 second lag at level 100+ rift =almost certain death and i salute all brave hardcore men in the ranks. you are brave sir!
if blizz is lagging it dont matter how good your cable is. other than that i agree with everything you say.
there is a small green bar(wafer thin really) just to the left of the mana ball to the right. take your mouse and hover it over that bar. i have about 20 gigs of bandwidth so my latency is about 45 assuming blizz is delivering optimally at its end(which it usually is). if your latency is 200+ it means your connection is not good in which case the solution to your problem is buy new internet service or quit.
