In the beginning, it’s fun, you unlock the altar, potion and pylon, blasting through everything… But then, after a while, is it really fun?
And remember the board you unlocked? Once you’ve unlocked it, you’re not going to look at it again. There is very little gameplay after that. It’s mostly potion and pylon play for a GR, going all the way to 150.
Is there some other ways to make it more interesting?
Fundamentally, UNLOCKING things is a journey. You play, understand how the play is, then unlock something. You FEEL the difference. You explore it, and then after a while, you work your way towards the next goal and unlock that. For a whole 10 hours. Then you quit the season like every other season.
If they actually made the season journey last more than 10-15 hours people would be PISSED! They’d go off their nut! Having to wait for an unlock is NOT FAIR!! They should have a “Skip to end game full ancient augmented Meta Build and 2k Paragon” button. That way people can skip all the progression and just grind GRs. If they removed “PwrLVL 1-70” people would be screaming bloody murder. Because top players don’t want to play the game. They just want to grind rifts.
Everyone else who plays for the journey just quit because they don’t actually “PLAY THE GAME”
And that’s just how it is. The top players don’t want the journey.
The devs should do a test for a week to see how many people play through a slightly altered and unique journey 1-70 over a week, and how many press the “Skip to the grind” button. It’s pretty obvious what the players want. But is it what they should get?
Really it should be a series of slot machine wins. Nothing too big to make every other win look lame. Not so often that it becomes expected, but pleasant surprises and interesting twists in luck over a long period of time. But if you ask any slot machine people if they could have a “Skip to the jackpot” button, then how many would skip to it, take the winnings and just leave?
It’s pretty common sense really but people just don’t look at it in such simple terms.
It’s not really that fun, as much as it is instant power creep. The casuals (like me) will be able to do 150’s this league, and the elites will be done A LOT sooner with whatever they were planning on doing. There really doesn’t seem to be a theme here and this feels more like a new permanent fixture, which I also suspect is the case because D4 is right around the corner, and they been keeping D3 alive solely to keep people busy till D4 anyway.
Honestly I think the Staff of Herding and the Endless Questions Page could really hold things up. With drop rates the way they are off PTR I can see some people never getting past either of them, simply because of bad luck or not having time to turn the game into their full time job to farm.
Personally I am not a good enough player to get to 150GR. I can get to mid 120’s, maybe 130. So this would give me the chance to do that, yes it diminishes the accomplishment a little but still it is something. If next seasons buffs are what gets me there then ok, I am all for it.
Well in the end this seson is going to be nothing but endless GR grind, but untill then, you can atleast farm allover the game, and get rewarded for it. And if you don’t rush like a mad man, and actually enjoy the ride, this is going to be the best one yet.
Its a 10 yo game. What ever the journey is at grinding, were done countless times. Those journey are imprinted deeply in memory and as clear as anything as if happened just yesterday. Whatever the theme is, it’s just carnival at twilight. Like the although reincarnated Masquerade of Carnival, no longer peak and as glorious as the past, appears one more time before the curtains at dusk.
S28 before D4, let the carnival begin. Aftermath is for S29, maybe only the true diehards will be left in D3. I am for sure not going to have another 30k hrs for any other game or 8000+ hrs worth of mechanical researching/testings ever again.
Sounds like it’s time for you to graduate to PoE, where 4k hours means you’re still a noob and research is essential for pretty much everything. Welcome Exile.
PoE 2 definitely interest me more than jst PoE. The animations, unrestricted tradings all are negatives to me. PoE 2 projected enhanced skill gems puts enough pros to out weigh the cons for me. Way more than D4 does to me. The catering towards D2 elements on D4 kills my urgh to play D4.
It is, unless blizz makes a big lot of changes, that’s major QOL here and even as a casual you will benefit from it, maybe you won’t play 4months but still.
