Is The Darkening of Tristram a good way to level up?

Oh my, don’t I feel foolish now, sorry about that Aly and BehindTimes!

Best wishes for S30!

Yes, you can have a soul shard reagrdless. However, a boss bounty gives Diabolic Chest, and if you’re level 18 or higher you are guaranteed to have a few gems from it.

The event has started, but it looks like Blizzard managed to bug it, because after scrapping Wirt’s leg, the Map of the Stars doesn’t drop, so you can’t get the Royal Calf pet.

I got it an hour ago…

Just running Bounties on Normal will get you to 70 in a little more than an hour.

Thanks, I mistakenly thought he was talking about it in the context of a level 1 character choosing that over magic rocks or a cube run. But regardless, all the numbers have convinced me on going magic rock.

I haven’t played the Darkening Event since it was introduced. What the heck is a Magic Rock?

It’s a clickable item you can find on the 5th level of the dungeon in The Darkening of Tristram. It will contain 15 gems of random type, allowing you to have a very high chance of acquiring the 2 diamonds you need to unlock the second node of the altar.

Can fast forward to 5:00 mark

Thanks y’all. I didn’t remember that at all. 2017 was a long time ago.

Hah, that’s the last time I did it too.

I edited my Post #9 above. The Magic Rock always spawns on Labyrinth Level 5 during The Darkening of Tristram  Event.

The Magic Rock was a Single Player Quest in the original Diablo. It began by talking to Griswold after you’ve visited the Dungeon Level 4. When you find the Magic Rock on Catacombs Level 5 and return it to Griswold, he’ll “craft” you the Empyrean Band Unique Ring.
