Is the current Paragon system going to continue on?

I just logged in to the PTR and the current Paragon system is alive and well. I was under the impression that it was going to be replaced by the capped. What am I missing here?

I got the impression that it’s for season only.

We are introducing changes to Paragon Points to work in tandem with Solo Self Found and the Season 29 theme. You can only assign a total of 800 Paragon Points to your character. Previously, you were only able to assign a total of 50 Paragon Points to each attribute within the Core, Defense, Offense, and Utility categories, but now you can assign up to 200 in each attribute. Each category can only have 200 Paragon Points placed into them.

This change is exclusive to Season 29.

This.

I see, I thought the Emnity aspect was the theme. I guess that’s good, I’ll keep paragon in S28. :slightly_smiling_face:

Just so you know, you still earn more paragon after 800, you just can’t assign them. I am pretty sure your paragons above 800 will transfer after the season ends.

I suspect they are testing the waters for limiting assignable paragon points for seasons only in order to cut game running costs. Season 29 is the final “new” season… Afterwards the game is going into maintenance mode. Suddenly limiting paragon for the final “new” season? Coincidence? One time only? When it comes to cutting costs, I’m leaning towards yes, the limited paragons for seasons will continue on.

As far as cutting those game running costs, it’s no secret that paragon bots have run rampant in the game for quite some time. It costs Blizzard money to not only go through and weed the bot users out of the game, but also the support end of it handling any appeal requests. By eliminating the ability of assigning an astronomically high number of paragon points during seasons, it reduces the players desire to run those paragon bots, thus reducing the manhours needed to further support the game.

If not, the alternative is to just let paragon botters run rampant without any consequence, the servers get overloaded, then they reach a point where they wont add more servers, then players have nothing but problems playing because of overloaded servers.

On a personal note, I feel it’s a good thing that Blizzard is finally retracting some of the power creep that has done nothing but pile up on the game. Is everyone going to like the change? Of course not. They can’t please everyone.

I would think the goal of botting would just move to streamline gear acquisition as that’s the main power.

Oh I’m sure that cheaters will fall back to the next highest priority, which is as you said streamlining gear acquisition.

If there was a game that required only breathing to play it, someone would cheat. Cheaters always gonna cheat.
