When we killed her, she was in a demonic form, so will she just respawn within the burning hells?
Diablo Wiki
“Adria threw herself into a pit of blood before re-emerging as a massive Blood Demon to do battle with the Nephalem. During the battle, she noted that Diablo sent her a vision of his return, with none other than the Nephalem releasing him. The heroes slew Adria, exacting justice for her betrayal and avenging her daughter.”

Assuming that either Adria successfully completed her transformation into a full fledged demon (which is likely considering her form when we fought her) and/or she was greatly favored by Diablo (which is also likely considering how well she served him), then yes it’s likely that Adria can now revive within the burning hells to further serve Diablo, and help realize his goals.
Now whether or not we’ll see her again in Diablo 4 is another matter.

She doesn’t really exist, so no, she is not really dead.

They should stop rehashing the old dead characters. It made the writing team so uncreative to come out with new things.
I certainly don’t like to see Izual again in D4.

Especially if Izual isn’t going to be doing anything actually interesting.
Who would win one-on-one at full power? The angel Urzael vs the fallen angel Izual.
In-game Urzael is actually hard and interesting to fight and I remembered a lot of players died on Urzael’s hand when RoS was released at that time
Izual in both games were a joke.
So yes, Urzael will win if both of them fought.
Probably Urzael for a couple of reasons:
- Izual as a fallen angel lacked his signature Azurewrath blade, as such his overall strength would be lessened. Although even if he did have it, it’s unclear whether he could bring out it’s strength considering he’s a demon; and the blade is of angelic origins.
- Izual was Tyrael’s lieutenant, while Urzael was Malthael’s lieutenant; and Malthael was considered the oldest and perhaps most strongest angel within the High Heavens, so it likely stands to reason that his lieutenant would be second only to the Archangels of the High Heavens and as such considered stronger than Izual (who was an angel rather than archangel).
- Izual as a fallen angel used ice, while Urzael (reaper form at least) used fire and as such held an advantage in terms of elemental prowess. Not to mention, that he had powerful long range attacks via an actual cannon.
- Izual seemingly values brute force over any form of strategems, and as such has a bad habit of attacking foes head on (which funnily enough led to his corruption in the first place); Urzael at least values some form of planning and is capable of leading his foes into a trap and as such could take advantage of Izual’s recklessness.
So yeah, I don’t see Izual winning, as he’d be outmatched in almost every way. But that’s my own speculation.

Agree, unless the character have a meaningful role to play.
And if they do so, I hope they won’t do what they did to Ashera.
There’s few NPC I would like to see or have something which refer to them in D4, such as:
Gillian, the only survivor from Tristram that we know of, alive, dead or undead she would be most likely in Caldeum (if alive, she’s a very, very old lady)
Leah, I wonder in what form
Diadra and Abd al-Hazir, at least their writings could be nice.
Something must be done about Kadala and the blood shards, why in the first place she wanted that ambiguous currency?
Story telling, items, quests, short novel, NPC, anything designed with subtleties and attention is welcome

Gillian would likely be an undead if we do see her again in D4.
I’m pretty confident that we’ll see Leah again in D4 or at least signs of her (either in the base game or it’s expansions).
More writings and/or in-game lore bits from Diadra and Abd al-Hazir would be nice.
As for Kadala, I used to think (prior to Diablo 4’s and Immortal’s announcement) that she was actually Lilith herself, and that the Blood Shards were actually fragments of the worldstone that she was having adventurers collect for her. But now, I have no idea what role she’d even play or even the purpose of Blood Shards.
Personally, I’d like to see Hadriel again.

If we want to have good strong games again, then we should also be a little consistent and not bagetellize death over and over again, for example.
This Stand-Up Guy thing is totally junk, unless you want to tell a fairy tale for 8-year-olds here.
The whole thing should be much more serious, but still stay wonderfully in the realm of fantasy. I would go further and portray such things as resurrections by players as a violent power-sapping ritual that can only be performed once a day. But for that the death is also serious and does not happen continuously… One will pay attention and the whole thing, is simply grounded again and brought across really strong and gripping.
The games have become so effeminate, so stale… No values, nothing to orient yourself by. Fast fast everything, colorful, you swap equipment like your underwear… Deaths don’t matter, mobs seem like straws over which a tank rolls, the world and the zones are like a tube and you skip everything because you want to work through your quest markers like an idiot, and so on.
These games simply no longer offer a foundation, a healthy basis on which you can engage.
We want to reawaken Adria? O.k… But then please with a lot of effort, with many sacrifices and a credible implementation, why and why and please seriously, authentically and so that we get something solid. Not simply, she has just been killed, has fallen in somewhere and now lives again and stands once again in the way, so that we eliminate her again so in passing with 3 axe blows, so that she appears 2 Add Ons further, again on the stage and we kill her again now but really?
Consequences and decisions and thereby scenarios arise, which develop further. And that again slowly and comprehensibly. We need to stop going over everything and every rule here, it just makes these games like toys for 4 year olds. But I’m not a 4 year old anymore and I don’t play with 2 action figures banging their heads against each other…
We should stop making games exactly like this.

Kadala as Lilith or working for Lilith without being aware of it, I really like the idea.
D3 have a lack of that demonic influence over NPCs, your idea kind of fix the issue in a twisted way.
Hadriel could totally take the place of Tyrael, as Heavens have closed its door he could have an indirect involvement for a time, in any ways, it sure could be nice.

She says that Gheed, the merchant from D2, was her father, right? I thought that was pretty cool lore, myself.
Kadala took all of our blood shards and how does Lilith return? Through the blood.
Bring on D4 already and make the story a good one. Not all of us are speed racers, some of us want good lore.
Yes, she claims to be Gheed daughter, and I thought it was a nice callback to Diablo 2. My question though is that what does she wants bloodshards for? If she values wealth like her father did (which is implied to be the case through her mentioning of Gheed); then that would imply she believes that the Bloodshards have some type of monetary value. But in that case who would Kadala trade those bloodshards to?
Yeah, I’m looking forward to the story and lore.
I like both lore and speed racing, Oblivion had a good idea here, if a currency can be used for a bit a lore I’m all for it.
I agree that it’s cool to have a continuity about Gheed (or any other NPC), nothing forbid Lilith to use her.
Anyhow, it’s always good to see NPCs from previous episode no matter how, alive, dead, undead, possessed.
Do demons die when they are killed? No. Was Adria turned into a demon? I believe so. That means her soul would return to the BH and she will reconstitute into her blood demon form at some point.
What is unclear is how long it takes for demons to be reborn. We do know more powerful ones take longer. We also know we can aid that along my summoning them into hosts here on Sanctuary through soul stones or direct summoning.
What exactly would a bloodshard be for other than the in game currency? Has that ever been explained?
