I’m playing Diablo 3 again after a long time, playing multiplayer with my kids.
I spent countless hours collecting all these sets and legendaries over all these seasons, and all my slots are full of characters with max gear, lvl 70, high paragon.
In order to play with a new seasonal character, I now have to make clutch decisions about deleting one or more of these characters, losing all the items that I spent so much time collecting.
Blizzard, for your long time fans, can you please add character slots with the new season? Maybe allowing up to 4 additional character slots, which are only available for new seasonal characters, would be a great incentive for players to come back to the game and rediscover it, and maybe try out different character classes than what players were used to…
Adding character slots was proposed in the last PTR cycle after the stash tab “debacle”. Unfortunately, Blizzard responded that this would not be happening.
Buying the deluxe version of Reaper of Souls will get you three additional character slots.
You can also have one extra slot by exchanging characters with the delete option, which lets you effectively swap characters out. Just remember not to destroy characters you want to keep by overwriting the deleted one (it will only keep track of your latest deleted character).
Pick an existing hero of the class you’d like to play in the season
Take their gear off and put it in the non-seasonal Stash
At the hero select screen choose that hero and click Rebirth
This converts your non-seasonal hero into a seasonal one, maintaining both its kill count and played time
At the end of the season, when the hero becomes non-seasonal again, choose whichever pieces of gear are better (either being worn, or the stuff you put in the Stash three months prior) and salvage the rest.
Even without the digital deluxe upgrade, you can have 14 character slots. That’s enough for 2 characters of every class, one of each gender. We don’t need any more than that tbh.
If you are making new characters of the same class you were already playing just to play a different build with that class, you need to start using the armoury to save builds. That’s what the armoury is for, so that you have enough character slots for all the avatars.
If you have all character slots used and need to make a new seasonal character, rebirth the avatar of what you want to play as for that season. This can be done with multiple characters, without a cap.
All the tools we need for 14 character slots to be enough are there, you just need to use them. If you want more than 14, the digital deluxe upgrade gives you an extra 3 slots. They are like luxury spare ones that we don’t actually need but are nice to have.
Exactly what I do. 14 character tabs, 2 for each class. Each season allowed 3 rebirths, decide which 3 classes I want to play that season…wash, rinse, repeat.
p.s I don’t hoard a bunch of useless crap, either. Seriously, who holds onto a Ring of Hollow Whispers or a Dovu Energy Trap?
On one hand, some games allow buying character slots. It allows multiple builds without the need to store their gear in the stash.
On the other, I’m not sure how many people play so many characters actively.
I guess those who play a lot, do. I only really play three. Realistically, I could just completely delete their stash, and play them season only - the leveling process is practically the same character growth as GR pushing.
It’s fairly easy to rebuild a character if needed to be. One only really needs to store the perfect ancients, if even.
Definitely need more char slots … This season I had to free up 3x slots for the Years Of War Conquest. This actually forced rethinking of what’s important to keep and what to toss. I have a playable and mule for each class and a mule for common gear and consolidated / removed dups on everything else.
sorry dude…you are not “high paragon” when you’re at 1158 and there are soooo many 2k, 3k, 4k and higher.
Your gear is far from “max gear” as well - you have 3 DH toons with UE gear…including one with legacy Yang’s and DML…consolidate those three into one with the best gears and voila…2 open slots.
