Increasing the crafted primal limit to 3/4 would be a nice change and give something to do with primordial ashes that just keep stacking up with zero use.
Better idea would be a cube recipe where you can re-roll an existing Primal with wrong stats. The cost can be say 5-10 primordial ashes per roll.
being able to re-roll primals would honestly be a fantastic addition
I would go a step further and suggest new cube recipies added.
-
A recipe that allows the player to keep on rerolling an item.
This would allow you to create the “perfect” item. -
A recipe that upgrades the quality of an item.
ln other words to go from normal to ancient to primal.
The cost could/should involve staffs of Herding and primordial ashes.
This would slow down the process of gearing but at the same time there should be a balance So that it doesn’t become a sadistic experience.
Lastly, even if it is something I believe would be a great idea, I have zero hopes of this being implemented. Also sorry for the edits. For some reason this was posted before it was complete. I am writing this on my phone.
Primordial Ashes that you stack can be used to craft a perfect Primal by smelting what you have as Primal, over and over again until you get the desired result. If you have stopped the moment you got one Primal, then system done its job but prolonged loothunt wasn’t for you. Eleventh recipe in the Cube only caters to the end game players who tries to perfect their equipment. It require several tries to get a perfect Primal from the craft system; if you stopped after crafting one, you missed its point.
You may have stopped the moment you got a Primal weapon with main stat, Vitality and Resource Cost Reduction% by crafting, but endgame requires a better combination than that. You have plenty uses of Primordial Ashes until you land a trifecta weapon with CdR%, AD%, +%Dmg; a trifecta ring with +Dmg, ChD%, ChC%, or a trifecta amulet with %Ele/AD%, ChD% and ChC%.
If you still insist that you need to be able to wear more than one crafted Primal when you can have many looted Ancients as you want, I’d just think you want a free hand over from developers. Allowing more than one crafted Primal per player simply tips the balance of non-seasonal on its head. Let along the end game of Seasonal, where botters would have an unsurpassed advantage over the casual player. Do NOT come up with arguments like “you don’t balance the game by being afraid of bots”; neither you give them indirect advantages by using silly excuses.
My take on the subject is, that we may benefit from a new Cube recipe serving as a sink for a chunk of Ramaladni’s Gifts, that reset the reroll state of non-crafted items when they’re enchanted once. If you have looted a near perfect Primal and want it to be perfect, you reroll one affix, use the said recipe to fixate it then reroll another affix to make it perfected. This way, any Primal you have looted would have perfect stats all across instead of waiting to get lucky or grinding for countless hours.
This would be so sweet!
Alas, development of this game is done.
Just my 2 cents worth, but how about 3 crafted primals allowable? With the limitation like Kanai cube passive categories–1 weapon or offhand item (shields/orbs/phylacteries/quivers), 1 armor piece, & 1 jewelry item (ring or ammie)? We know it won’t happen, but it seems like it would be a reasonable compromise.
Meh, I’d just as soon remove the limit altogether at this point tbh
there needs to be a dual or multi purpose usage for primordial ashes imho. The current primal is nice, but once you have a perfect primal, any new primal ashes are well, wasted and unusable. Silly game design imho.
I’m all for being able to use primordial ashes to re-roll existing naturally found primals
How about a recipe to use ashes to convert GR keys into Orek’s Dream keys?
Same with Ramalamadingdongs. They really need to allow those to roll a socket on jewelry.
On the one hand, anything we do to increase player power potential, will EXPONENTIALLY benefit cheaters much more than the legitimate players. I shudder to think of how people who are both A.) legit, and B.) actually caring about leaderboards, would feel about these suggestions.
On the other hand though, maybe it’s time for “legit competitors” to find a different game. Sad as it is to say it, but this game IS “End of Life” correct? Maybe leaderboards are an acceptable casualty in exchange for increased QoL for the rest of us who just kind of want to see “full perfect” by the end of a season?
I get your point. But in this case I think it is quite the opposite. The cheaters who farm 24/7 will have a much better chance of getting the perfect gear as it is now.
Not that I’m totally in favor of allowing equipping more crafted primals.
As Jazz said, the Primal ideas above will help legit players more than cheaters.
Cheaters already have 4-8 correctly rolled Primals on their character, and these generally are the hard to roll pieces (weapon, offhand, jewelry, gloves). Of their remaining gear slots, the ancients they have are very near perfect. The potential increase on their gear is very, very small.
Legit players mostly have 1-3 correctly rolled Primals. Of the remaining ancients, they are much farther from perfect than cheater ancients are.
Cheaters are going to get multiple Primal Squirts, for example in a season. Legit players are maybe going to get one. The odds the cheater has the correctly rolled Squirts is far higher than the legit player. Letting players reforge a Primal for, say like 5 PA a roll, gives the legit player a chance to fix that Primal Squirts they found that rolled terribly.
Yes, the ideas above will make the cheaters slightly more power, but they will help legit players a lot more.
Fair points from both of you.
Honestly I think if I actually went through my NS characters I could probably put together a full “useful” primal character (might be actual perfect rolls, but all slots would be meta).
But since Altar isn’t coming to NS I’m not even going to bother playing inventory tetris this season’s end. I haven’t come close to character limits but I’ll probably delete the toons anyway. It’s not like I’m ever going to USE them, so why bother keeping them?
GREAT idea! Although, imho, jewellery should roll with a socket by default.
I don’t know what the fuss is about Orek’s dreams. I haven’t found them any better than a normal GR.
Come play on console (PS4) and then you’ll know what cheating is. Save wizard (10k paragon, unlimited mats, 150 rank legendary gems. Modded gear. Save scumming. kanai cube recipes for primals (yes, cos the RNG seed is fixed for lvl 1 characters, people figure out how to get primals with 100% reliability). There’s a reason why PS4 player numbers are dropping.
LOL, 4? PS4 mate - 13 primals, all with the right stats, 13 rank 150 augments and all 3 legendary gems at rank 150. That’s the rank 10 player. Been like that for 3 or 4 weeks too, so he took 2 weeks to get all perfect primals for his build. cough BS *cough LOL. The top 9 are all using modded gear. Clearing GR150 in 2 minutes. This is for s6 impale SC btw. Then there’s rank 12 who’s done a GR139 in 1.5 minutes with 2 augments and only 1 legendary gem (gogok). Cheating. Rank 12 is the first legit player with a GR131 clear in 13 minutes, fully augmented with rank 125 augments. Then there’s me at rank 13 with a GR125 clear in just under 7 minutes with 2 augments, not everything ancient and several items with bad rolls. Can probably do a GR128/9 “as is”. I know I can beat rank 12, so not in a rush. The other DH builds are exactly the same - full of cheaters. You guys on PC have no cheating problems vs the PS4 (and switch).
Same.
Many pieces of jewelry already have a socket by default (Focus/Restraint, COE, Halo of Karini). It is silly some always have it and some don’t when sockets are mandatory on jewelry.
Totally agree. Pretty sure my top clear the last few seasons has come from a GR that wasn’t a Orek’s Dream. The maps and density are great, but the mobs and pylons are usually very suboptimal.
This is why I have avoided console from the start. I remember back in the day my friend getting D3 ROS on console. He was going on and on about having 6 socket weapons with a million sheet damage. All gear having six sockets full of legendary gems. Console is a show. Always has been, always will be.
Blizzard picks the most popular jewellery and makes it not have a socket by default to make it harder to gear up in the game…
It’s like AC vs AR - Int based characters get it much easier, since AC rolls much more often than AR. Meanwhile, dex based characters have a much harder time of getting perfect boots/pants/chest etc…
I had back to back Orek’s dreams this season, including a weeping hollows map. And couldn’t get to 100% wiping everyone on the 1st floor and hitting every pylon…
console isn’t really the problem. Sony let their encryption keys get hacked at the beginning of 2019 from memory. XBOX is in a much better position with no modded gear, no save wizard. I don’t even think there’s scum saving or kanais receipe primals on the platform.
Probably because they are still pretty rare. Just recently the rate was buffed to a 4% chance which is still on the low side in my opinion
I honestly keep forgetting this game is on consoles. Does it still require connection through BNET somehow? Or is it handled through the respective console internet systems, with an “activation” via linked BNET account to validate the product key?
If it’s not going formally through BNET in ways Blizz can directly control and monitor and tinker with unilaterally, then they’re basically giving the keys to the safe to a random third party and going “we’re trusting you not to eff this up.” Which isn’t a smart move, cybersecurity wise. But it probably makes Blizz a lot of money, from the console companies?
