Improvement changes

As a returning player who is on a break from D4 and other Blizzard games. I’m playing D3, but some changes could and should be made until there is a team put in place to work on older Blizzard games that people still love to play.

I think defensive abilities should grant a shield when paired with a defensive item to promote the usage of Squirt’s Amulet. So far, the Wizard’s deflection shield, galvanizing ward, and dominance work best from what I’ve seen, but that has nothing to do with their item. The Demon Hunter has a fortress ballista to try and grant a shield to keep up life and squirts, but it sucks. The Barbarian doesn’t get a shield at all to help keep squirts, and the hellfire amulet pales in comparison. This would greatly help the mindless and fun speed runs. Please buff the power gained from each paragon point after the nerf to some set items and the altar in previous patches. As a solo self-found player. I’m finding it very grindy to reach GR 150 without a ton of GR fishing, which I don’t want to do. I am just going to give up reaching GR 150 with pleasurable fun play as opposed to GR fishing. GR fishing is boring, a waste of time, and a waste of keys. I liked being able to blow up GR 150s in previous seasons as a solo player. I don’t want to resort to getting more exp from 4-man runs just to be able to excel in solo play. I want my cake and to eat it too.

Buff followers. Let them emanate more items and emanate more gems, other than the esoteric alteration and mutilation guard. There are so many items that go unused or have powers no one wants. There are a lot of gems that don’t get used either. I would love it if some of the Templar’s powers would be something along the lines of giving us a shield or dodge rating to help keep up squirts’ buff in speed runs, where the entire point is to blow things up before they do any sort of damage. There are enough damage reduction items and abilities to keep us alive, but not from taking damage to keep up squirts, which is now the go-to amulet for most class builds.

I don’t even use Sage buff on myself or followers after the first week of the season, after getting double death breath from the altar, and I have an abundance of death breath. I can’t get enough of the other mats to spend them with the death breaths promptly, without being pigeon-holed into only farming mats until it’s not fun. Being able to convert bounty mats into another type should be allowed since a lot of players end up with one type after they target farm a cache drop like the RORG.

The gems don’t emanate. The enforcer gem, on the other hand, emanates from your character to followers and pets.

Legendary gems equipped on followers should emanate. Such as using the bane of the powerful, for example. It would be a great addition. Also, excess ramaladi gifts should be able to be salvaged. They should also be able to use the socket with more pieces of gear, like an extra socket in jewelry and or gear. I also think that gear should be able to use legendary gems in their sockets and not just regular gems. I know it sounds OP, but it beats the current style of play, no matter how much you nerf things. People already farm GR 150s in under 2 minutes because of paragon farming with 4-man exp. Please do this to help the solo players!

And then 4-man will farm 150s in 50 seconds. And the solo’s will never ever be able to catch them.

I’m playing SSF, set my own goals and play. I know I can’t have the same items and paragon as group players and no-lifers, but I usually manage to make my goals.

Not that I wouldn’t mind a buff to Solo gameplay. Also, at least on EU, SSF is more competitive than “normal” season. In normal season you can be at the top now, but close to end of season, the group players will come in with 8k+ paragon and just dominate.

I agree there are several things that could/should change.

Squirt’s Necklace is one of my favorites, I think they may be leery about doing too much to protect against it’s negative effect because it’s intended to be a high risk/high reward item.

Also, in before Aboshan and his “there is no more development” speech.

As things are no changes will be made to D3 in the years to come. We gotta make the best of what we got. Your Tal Rasha seasonal hero should be able to go pretty high solo this season with a few changes to skills and the use of the enchantress… and some fishing for okay maps.

D2 is an old game with no real dev team working on it, and they just got a new class. I don’t expect an entirely new season, but I do wish for the continuance of quality of life changes, as this game is still under maintenance. Give the players what they want. It’s Blizzard’s fault this game doesn’t make money to get attention because they took away the RMAH and GMAH. That didn’t stop people from buying things with real money if they wanted to. They just buy it in games that allow it more often…like D4 with their battle pass, cosmetics, etc. There are already people who stop playing each season after getting what they want. No different from them buying things at the start of the season and then falling off.

Correct, and that’s what has been explained to some trolls. Blizzard flat-out stated years ago that there would be NO MORE development for D2, it’s over. A couple years later, D2 got a huge update patch (1.10), more patches, a remaster, and a DLC. So you can never trust when someone says it’s over. I have newer games that got updates with additional content after “We have no plans for..”

There is nothing wrong with wishful thinking. I’d much rather see people make threads wanting more/changes to this game, triggering some critical thought and discussion. It’s just sad when those threads get infested, which is apparent when you see hidden replies (case in point), or the OP getting flagged because they have nothing better to do. If we didn’t have threads like this, this forum would be a ghost town and all those flag-happy people would then complain that this is a ghost town.

Right. I don’t always pay attention to game news, but a Blizzard rep said people don’t know what they want. That was their reply and answer to the question if they had any plans to bring back WoW Classic, which they thought would be a bad idea because they are too heavily invested in making money vs how much they want to please their fans who pay them their salary in the first place. I would gladly use an AH in D3 or buy cosmetics if it looks good compared to the ugly free crap.

Many thought Blizzard was wrong when they said that, but they weren’t all that wrong.

He said “You think you do, but you don’t.” People said “We’re literally asking for it right now!” However, what he meant was that you will not get the experience you remember. Not only because you’re looking at it through rose-tinted glasses, but the generation of gamers now are not the same. They knew we wouldn’t have got a respectful community that we had back then. They knew we’d have the entitled, normalized toxicity that we have now, and you can confirm this is true from reading the forums. All the huge problems they have there were extremely rare back in the day.

On the same token, there are a lot of idiotic ideas that some people think are genius. There are people in every game forum I visit who come up with the most cockamamie ideas that you’d think at first, they were joking, but aren’t. Then you have their friend(s) back them up, which makes you realize why aliens won’t talk to us. Yes, there are good ideas, but the former are what he was talking about, when saying people don’t know what they want.

At the same time, it goes both ways. I remember back in TBC when someone suggested a button that would drop all 4 totems at once. They called it “Totem Pole”. A blue actually replied and said that was a horrible idea. The next expansion, they implemented exactly that and renamed it so it wouldn’t look like they copied his idea that they dismissed.

Correct me if I’m wrong. Isn’t the new class only available for D2R? And then you need to buy the DLC (after having bought D2R also).

Yes, nothing is entirely free if you want new and fun content.

Squirts Amulet is one of those items that benefits each class differently. Yes, there is shield uptime from the skills & items you mentioned, but shields aren’t the entire picture:

Remember Squirts uptime is heavily influenced by ranged attacks and the player avoiding damage, builds with high % dodge chance, damage immunity from skills like Monk’s Serenity, and yes the Shield Pylon which in solo play grants 2 minutes of 100% Squirts uptime translating to 13.33% multiplicative damage if your GR completion time is exactly 15 minutes, 20% if 10 minutes, 40% if 5 minutes etc.

This item has enough use cases, its main competition is Traveler’s Pledge (worth 41% multiplicative), possibly set pieces and hybrid sets in scenarios where the a build’s Amulet is a set piece (Talisman of Akkhan).

I agree more options are needed for the amulet, I revisit the amulets in game:

Ess of Johan (Chance on hit to pull in enemies toward your target and Slow AND increase your Attack Speed by 60-80% for 4 seconds – keep the 10 second ICD in tact)

Blackthorne’s (This set could use a rework, 2pc: gain the immunity features, 3pc: gain the 10% elite damage and reduction, 4pc: doubles your equipped elemental damage [40% → 80%] [60% → 120%], etc.)

Overwhelming Desire (make this grant 35% multiplicative damage to enemies further than 30 yards, remove charm proc requirement, restrict to player only)

Dovu Energy Trap (make this scale damage to stunned enemies, for every second the enemy is stunned gain 6% increased damage to this target, ie. 5 second stun = 30% damage, 10 second stun = 60% damage)

Haunt of Vaxo (make this the same Shadow clone in our season theme)

Talisman of Aranoch, Mara’s Kaleidoscope, The Star of Azkaranth, Xephirian Amulet, Countess Julia’s Cameo (these should also grant a flat 20% multiplicative damage to the corresponding element)

Hellfire Amulet (let it grant 2 passives skills)

Personally, I’d like to see 4p meta groups disrupted and itemization that accomplishes that.

Solo self-found could have its own version of things that isn’t the same as regular multiplayer season. Those are wonderful amulet ideas!

Best thing they could do to help solo players without also buffing group players is to have a legendary gem that only works for followers and gives the followers actual damage. The damage should increase as the gem is upgraded which allows the follower to scale with the player.

It kills me to have followers be simple walking and talking buffs. I really miss my D2 follower popping things on Hell. For D3, it is sad when you hit like T6, the Templar talks a lot of trash, only to have the monsters simply walk past him as if he wasn’t even there, while he is hopelessly, helplessly flailing away.

I think they should be reworked to be more useful. I would love for them to be able to do damage and benefit from legendary gems aside from esoteric alteration and mutilation guard, if it is decided to make them undying for more than just the unity combo. It’s quite possible to make them undying and equip three or more legendary gems whose power could be transferred to the player. Legendary gems in all jewelry, weapons, and, quite possibly, even the armor.

I dream of a Rainbow Unicorn pet only available in SSF mode that will double my damage and toughness :rainbow: :unicorn:

Being awake a simple solution would be to have standard power and toughness buff only active in SSF and possibly other buffs to solo play. Anything is imaginable…

I don’t need followers to do real damage as the templar or enchantress is often occupied somewhere in a corner or another room fighting an insignificant monster
Followers should mostly provide buffs to me.

D3 needs a resurrection, also then.

The point still stands. Even original Diablo 2, Blizzard stated that there would be NO MORE development, they were done. Two years later, they got patch 1.10, 1.11, 1.12, 1.13, and 1.14.
