Impact that removing Ladder Only content has

Forget the race to 99, that was big along time ago.

Trading market has now taken a huge hit. Clearly this was not considered when giving in to the demand to remove the Ladder only content, which is a substantial list and contains some of the most powerful Uniques and Runewords, obviously making the incentive to play ladder, quite large!

Removing these, means Ladder is nearly pointless and items will never reset in value. Gone will be the thrill of that first runeword to sell at top value, first High rune to cash in or keep for your own build to get stronger and farm faster to cash in while prices are high.

After a year, all of these items are now worth zip, because they will never be reset.

I hope this doesnt tank D2, because IMO ladder only content, farming those GG items for 6 months at a time, trying to roll perfects to take to Non ladder PVP and cash in, is now gone. That kept alot of us going for the past 10+ years.

I am against this, this is my take, agree or not, its done. I will enjoy making my characters on Sept 23rd and building them, but I am going to miss that feeling of a full reset on a certain day and the race to find the first, X, and have it mean something.

I think it’ll be fine bro they can always add Ladder content in the future…
the majority of us wanna see changes I feel this is a step in the right direction launching w.o ladder…

Very passionate and well spoken, you are right I think, though i do think if they put content in as Killercat says, maybe the exclusivity will come back, because I know what you mean, ladder stuff going into non-ladder does strip the prestige away from ladder. I just don’t get why they don’t start ladder at launch, if there is connectivity issues, which I doubt this time round, it would have only lasted couple of days at most.

I seriously hope it is only available in nl until the first ladder season starts

Well maybe that is the plan… who knows, but this seems like a hip fire shot to give the Casuals, something, to give them one of their demands. Which ill admit was a huge %, but no one really thought it fully through, they just didnt want to grind every 6 months and find those items all over again.

I love D2 because every play through, is different, sure I usually end up in the same build range with gear and such, but the gear you find along the way is always different.

I wont have that incentive unless I create it for myself, to restart a MF sorc later on because, why bother, I can make one and just beef her up and keep feeding all of my characters.

patch 1.15 ( added 20 new “Ladder only” runewords ) . and the crybabies come back out whining about “ladder only” stuff so patch 1.16, everything added to nl to shut the crybabies up… where would it end? stop it now and no problems later

personally i never played ladder for the items otherwise i would have only played 1 or 2 ladder only.

i mainly played for the fresh start and the added difficulty (though i hope the added difficulty will be added to NL to make it atleast a little appealing to me , the NL i mean , even though i’ll probably stick to ladder only anyway for the fresh start atleast with a few characters each ladder , but adding the difficulty might make me play NL once in a while if they stick to the “3 month only ladder”

With a shorter ladder and no ladder only gear this should make for an interesting iteration of Diablo 2, especially if their are no bots involved.

It will probably force is to play characters differently with gear we wouldn’t normally think of using.

it wasn’t an incentive, it was a restriction that was gatekeeping content. it was just forcing players to play online or ladder when a lot couldn’t, didn’t have the time or didnt want to and ended up using mods to enable them anyways. It was the correct change to do despite any pushback about how ladder isnt so super special anymore.

oh no the people who sell stuff for real money are effected? im so very upset for them. The regular economy will adjust and certain things will just be worth a different amount but itll be entirely the same. more gas-lightning nonsense.

This post is such exaggerated nonsense im about to side with the ploot people for how purists are acting nutty here about their game changing.

You refunded simply because… ladder specific content was added to non-ladder? tf? How is that refund worthy of the entire game? jesus. these guys about to make that lonesom guy correct about people refunding over ladder content. nooooooooooooooooo

Dont bring offline into this, this has nothing to do with solo play. I 100% support all Ladder only content to be available offline in Solo play. Pretty sure everyone did, I never saw anyone against that change, only the Non-Ladder getting everything request.

It was never forcing players, dont be dramatic, even though I know you post in the same high strung voice the real Billy Mays did, RIP… You always had your NL characters to keep building, but then had the choice to go reset, enjoy a new playthrough, with incentives to find those high value uniques, make those runewords and upgrade your NL characters.
You lose that entirely now.

Trading market has kept this game alive for a long time bud, we help supply the PVP community who wants those high end rune words and uniques. You can balk at the trade world, but that is a massive end game for alot of players.
The market will be great for awhile, and then without resets, it will tank, because everyone will have everything, thats how supply vs demand works.

Thats your opinion, you stated it. Its a change that I fear is not a good one for the longevity of this game now. Thats mine.

Maybe there is more to come, they could have a nice flowchart on a whiteboard and this will all make sense down the road. I can hope, but I just hope this isnt the be all end all.

Now that the items people have played around with and created builds for years is ungated I would fully support new items as ladder only content. Fill in the last of the Elite gears that never had a unique version, add in the unused runewords, hell I would be fine with seeing new content styled like Uber Tristram as ladder only content.

I will play ladder anyway for the gear resets even if they don’t add new content. I think it will be ok.

You’re upset because theres a few items that are no longer gate-keeped by ladder. which forced you to play a different way in NL. This is your reason for being upset, yes? Because your experience of being forced to play NL and ladder were different and therefor enriched your experience?

Im not your buddy guy. D2R is a brand new game with brand new ladders. D2 is still D2. Also, people who use real money for digital crap have always been and will always be pathetic. they don’t help games, they ruin them.

So you’re mad because the online digital economy won’t be exactly the way it was before? Because everything was already worthless in NL. Ladder is a fresh start and a race and the loot for it will always be different than NL regardless of those specific runewords or not.

honestly people can refund all they want. i just wish someone had an actual good reason to refund. No widescreen support? not refund worthy. No ploot that was never in the game? not refund worthy. a fraction of tiny gatekeeped content being more available? is that a joke? OBVIOUSLY not refund worthy.

ill see every single one of you on launch.

Man, this actually fulfills one of my 3 major wishes for the game, ladder ungating. I do hope that they have the difficulty set to the ladder though, as having a conforming difficulty across all ways to play, will make it easier to balance later, since I feel that this is a step towards showing the community that they are willing to listen to player feedback.

I’m happy for this change because I can just play single player and obtain all items available in the game and not have to use BattleNet Multiplayer
